when i read this book, i was hoping it wouldn't end. it was sooo awesome. it has a little bit of romance, and a lot of suspense. i really like the part where she gets in this kissing trap. she gets kissed by tony--her so-called boyfriend, and then he does something. it was very suspenceful at that part. you must read this book. i suggest that any age--maybe 10 and up. no younger cause of the murder.

As a girl I read this book over and over again. I can still remember the images it evoked in my mind as I read the words. It was one of my favorites. I can't wait to share it with my stepdaughter. I had been having difficulty finding it. I'm so glad I found it.

I had to read a mystery book for school. Being a 7th grader, its hard not to find a book that isn't about murders. I picked out this book thinking, 'It will just be okay,' but I was wrong. It was awesome! Very suspenceful, but a little disturbing. I give it 4 stars!

'My name is Sarah Darnell. I'm sixteen-almost seventeen- and I'm tall, with long, curly, dark hair.' You just found a little about Sarah but the thing you don't know is that she's dead. Now that she's dead, she explains her life before and what led up to that tragic day. She does this while getting messages from dark places. Joan Lowery Nixon has been a great mystery book author and this is one of many of her accomplishments. If you have read The Weekend Was Murder then you absolutely should love this book. Nixon makes you feel as if you're taking place in the events.

After nearly drowning when she was swimming with some friends Sarah can hear people calling to her. They¿re not ordinary people either, they¿re dead. Sarah is forced to move to a new city when her dad¿s job is relocated. The minute she steps over the threshold she is paralyzed with fear. There was something very wrong in that house and, after doing some delving, the family finds someone was murdered in that house and the killer is still running free. Sarah¿s fear deepens when she hears someone crying out in Spanish and sees the murder take place. Sarah promises to help the poor woman that is calling but someone else knows about Sarah¿s visions, someone far more dangerous. The killer is still in town and is ready to make Sarah another one of his victims. Will she catch the killer before he catches her?

I was in the sixth grade when I first came across this book. I was couldn't put it down. I read it and had put it back. I forgot all about it, and I was thinking am I making this up, or did I really read this book. I looked all over this website to find this book. I knew what it was about and thats all. I seen the authors name and then thought maybe that was the author. I am so happy now that I found that book. This book will keep you going for hours. I was so into this book that my english teacher did a project on it. Instead of a novel she handpicked, she read this and loved it as well. The whole class loved it. It is so exciting. I loved it, and as soon as I can im going to buy it. So ill never forget it again. xoxo

The book Whispers From The Dead is a great and suspenseful book by Joan Lowery Nixon. I enjoyed this book because in the book were very scary and surprising things that happened in it. This book is about a girl named Sarah Darnell who has contact with ghosts. When Sarah lived in Missouri she had a sense or a shadow following her after she nearly drowned. When she moved to Houston the shadow was gone but Sarah had a bad feeling about her new house. If you are interested in ghosts and horror books this book is just for you, it is a sickening book and if you think this is interesting wait till you see her in Houston.

The first time I read this book was when I was in the 4th grade, a long time ago, and since then I have read the book about four more times! Every time I read it I find something new. Joan Lowery Nixon is one of my favorite authors and I have read several other books by her. This book, however, is my all time favorite out of the many books I've read by her. It's captivating and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Take my word for it, READ THIS BOOK!
