Whispers from the Grave by Leslie Rule is a time travel mystery

Whispers from the Grave by Leslie Rule is a time travel mystery. As time travel literature goes, this one was fairly easy to keep up with. There weren't so many jumps back and forth that can leave the reader thoroughly confused.

This book was first published in 1995 and it's nice to find a good Young Adult book that isn't paranormal or dystopian - though I love those genres, too. I was a bit disappointed that the majority of the book was set back in time, the '70s. As it started in the future, 2070, I was hoping for more about the world in that time.

Jenna was a good protagonist, though overall, I felt the characters could use more fleshing out. I found it hard to connect to them.

I think Whispers from the Grave is a good Young Adult time travel mystery. Although, it probably is better suited to the younger readers than older young adults and adult readers.

    A satisfyingly twisty YA read!

I have been a huge fan of true crime writer Ann Rule for years. I just wish I had discovered her daughter Leslie's books when this book originally came out as I was still a teenager then! That being said, even as an adult I enjoyed this story set in 2070 of a teenager trying to solve the 100 yr old mystery of the former ocupent ofbher new house: a 17 year old girl who looks eerily similar to her. Leslie Rule allows the reader a chance to see and experience two very different worlds while weaving a plausible story twisting science, mystery, and the paranormal. What stood out most to me was how Rule vividly captures the rollercoaster of the feelings & emotions of a teenaged girl, a taste of manuvering the social hierchy of high school, and that special kind of first love that both transcends time and can be felt by the YA and YA at heart. Recommended age:13+, 185 pages

I have been a fan of Leslies mothers books for many years and recently discovered that her daughter Leslie is also has the talent for writing books that are so hard to put down...Leslie has a great personality and this is transfered into her wonderful books.... I will never hesitate to look for her next new book as I know I will always enjoy her next exciting read. I love her style and she now has yet another fan to add to her club...Thank you Leslie for being a great entertainer and taking the time to tell us another story.

Really enjoyed this book. It wasn't what I expected and I was turned off when I realized it was set in the future. So glad that didn't stop me. Someone wrote it is more suited for young readers. I'm almost 40 and I loved it!

When I stumbled across Whispers From the Grave I wasn't sure wha

When I stumbled across Whispers From the Grave I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm happy to say it was a great read. The story is told by Jenna, a teenage girl. Jenna questions her family heritage and also learns she has psychokinetic abilities. When she finds a diary in her attic she learns secrets from her past that will change the future. Highly recommend to YA readers (or anyone) who enjoys mystery/suspense with a twist (time travel).
