When Murray Pura’s The Wings of Morning was released, one of his rave reviews came from Romantic Times magazine:

“Pura has created one of the finest stories of Amish fiction I have ever read….The reader will be applauding the exceptional writing and the cast of characters demands an encore performance.”

Here is that encore performance.

In the third book in his Snapshots of History series, Murray brings back Jude and Lyyndaya Whetstone, the beloved lead characters in The Wings of Morning.

The year is 1941 and Jude and Lyyndy, with their adult daughter, Rebecca, are summoned to far-off, exotic Honolulu where Rebecca, a flyer like her father, meets a likeable young pilot. The two enjoy a friendship that seems to be turning into something more serious…..until Sunday, December 7, 1941 dawns on the Hawaiian Islands.

Readers who love the simplicity of the Amish, a good romance, and a dramatic historical setting are in for a treat with Whispers of a New Dawn.

In Whisper of a New Dawn Murray Pura has penned a powerful story

In Whisper of a New Dawn Murray Pura has penned a powerful story of healing and letting go of the past.

The story is set in 1941 shortly before the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
It is great to see several of the characters we have seen before in The Wings of Morning once again. Together with Jude, Lyyndaya, Becky, and her brother Nate, we visit their Amish family in Paradise, Pennsylvania before they leave for Oahu, Hawaii.

Becky has just suffered a great loss and has vowed to never love a man again. But that proves to be impossible when she meets the handsome army pilot Christian Raven.
Just like her parents, Becky is a flight instructor. She got the assignment to teach Raven stunt flying, but Becky finds him annoying and wants nothing more than to quit with his lessons.
Aunt Ruth—always being there for Becky with a listening ear—encourages her to tell Raven what is bothering her. After Becky has told him about her loss, he also shares his story. Both need healing and must learn to let go. Soon a friendship develops that grows into something more.
Then the bombing of Pearl Harbor takes place and their lives are turned upside down. It is a time of uncertainty, devastation, and loss…

Mr. Pura has proved himself to be a gifted writer. Every time I’m reading one of his books I’m amazed at how his stories touch my heart. Pura’s stories are refreshing, passionate, and smoothly written. Whispers of a New Dawn is no exception. This book is not only a story of healing but also a tender romance that will satisfy the romantic reader. And as usual the richly detailed historical descriptions are a delight to read. This is a moving story with a good Christian message, that will keep the reader turning the pages. Highly recommended!

Murray Pura in his new book, "Whispers of a New Dawn"

Murray Pura in his new book, "Whispers of a New Dawn" Book Three in the Snapshots in History series published by Harvest House Publishers takes us into the life of Becky Whetstone

From the Back Cover: Whenever the sun sets in one part of the your world, it always rises again in another."

The year is 1941. Pilots Jude and Lyyndy Whetstone arrive with their adult daughter, Becky, back in their Amish community in Lancaster County. It's time to consider giving up flying forever and finally settle down among their relatives. It seems God is leading that way, especially when Becky finds romance with young Moses Yoder and decides to abandon the skies for the life of an Amish wife.

A summons to exotic Honolulu changes everything. Jude has been asked to train fighter pilots for the new Army Air Forces. If they go, they will not be allowed to return. But the call to serve the country they love prevails, so the family departs amidst tears at what they're leaving behind and fears at what awaits them.

Once settled on the beautiful island of Oahu, Becky is also hired on as a flight instructor and takes an immediate dislike to her newest student-the brash Christian Raven. Their turbulent road to love comes to a crashing halt with the horrific bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. As Christian joins in the fight that will become World War II, Becky wonders of God would be so cruel as to snatch love from her life a second time.

I love history and "Whispers of a New Dawn" is loaded with it without it becoming a school history textbook. Mr. Pura looks at the beginning of World War II from the American point of view by leading into the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Both Raven and Becky have their issues to deal with before they can really commit to each other and it is fun to watch them deal with them together. Though, ultimately, it is up to God to really heal them both, especially Becky, as she has to deal with her issue toward Him. "Whispers of a New Dawn" is an adventure story filled with detailed battle scenes that will make you feel that you are there witnessing the event. It is also a thriller as both Raven and Becky's lives are in danger during the course of the war. "Whispers of a New Dawn" is also a romance that is all about relationships and that is what makes this book a winner. I enjoyed this book a lot and am looking forward to more by Mr. Pura.
