A tale of morality, suspense and youth is about to unfold and touch your heart...the scene is set in 1957 West Virginia, the text tells the story of Emily, a fifteen-year-old girl who travels great distances coming to and from school on a daily basis. A few years back, a young girl went missing and was never found. This sad event causes Emily to carry a terrible fear of walking alone through the woods. Fortunately, she befriends a neighbors' dog, which she names Angel, and together they travel through the woods. One winter evening, Emily was not able to return home from school and nobody could find any trace of her nor the dog. What happened to her and what could have caused her sudden disappearance? The search for Emily begins and only time can really tell what will happen next. Whispers of Faith is a fine storybook that takes a close look at the people of a small community and their care for each other. Through the viewpoint of Emily, readers will realize the moral values of the community as well as why people turn up missing despite having a very peaceful environment. Furthermore, the story also emphasizes the concept that innocence is always the first casualty of unexplained incidents and crime. Highly recommended for teenagers and adults.
