Wow I can't believe this book was written by a 12 YEAR OLD girl! The main character is a strong cowgirl named Sonora, and I think she would appeal to many readers. She never gives up and chases her dreams, which is endearing in a character. I read the book with my daughter and really enjoyed the detail, characterization, and action throughout it. With the wild horses and the cowboys and cowgirls, it reminded me of a more modern Western movie, and it even had that Black Stallion feel to it a bit. Really well done and a fast read! My daughter and I really enjoyed it, and we have even recommended it to others! I know this book is only the start for this author, as she was only 12 when she wrote this, and it will be interesting to see how she develops as a writer. Chelsea came and spoke to my daughter's class at school on an author visit, and she was so inspiring, telling about how her dream came true when she got published, how the book was made, and stressing the importance of reading and writing. She also encouraged the students to go for their dreams and goals, too, even if they didn't want to be writers like her. It's really wonderful to see such enthusiasm and drive from a young girl, and she's using her talents to inspire others too! My daughter couldn't stop talking about her after school that day, so thanks Chelsea! My daughter really hopes you will write a sequel and more books in the future. What an entertaining horse story of friendship and determination!

This book is a very enjoyable, action-packed read. The characters are intruiging and interesting with a total unnique spunk to them. Once I picked up this book, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! First off, the storyline draws you in right from the start and pulls you excitedly through every beautiful scene. And the writing style itself is so descriptive and creative! You can easily imagine everything so cleary, as if you were really there...like it was one of your own memories. Every word flows into the next and blends together in such a pleasant fashion. I've never read a more detailed, stirring book full of thrill, courage, suspense, and none stop adventure! Great book for any reader, whether you're in grade school or you're a grandparent. This book is a joy to read and a faced paced winner!

My little girl and I walked in to this local Barnes and Noble at the mall the other day. This was near the bargain books area. Since it was her birthday and since she loves horses, I decided to buy this for her. After all, it's always good for young adults to get into reading at a young age. After her and I sat down and started reading it together, I quickly realized why it was in the clearence section. This book just feels cheaply made, and it reads like it too. There were sloppy sentences all over the place, and it just wasn't entertaining. After we finished the incredibly short book (about 150 pages? are you serious?) my daughter turned around and looked at me and said "Thanks anyway dad. I still love you!" I should consider myself lucky. If you want a real horse novel, read Black Beauty. My advice to the author: If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. That is all.
