Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
As elaborate as its predecessors The Ninja and The Miko , this epic melodrama set in present-day Japan features Japanese tanjian sorcery, troubled family histories, crime and political intrigue. ``A distinctly good time for the unabashed thriller-reader, particularly those with a taste for the mystical, exotic and sexually kinky,'' said PW. Having read four of the books in this series I personally think this is the best.Firstly the protagonist is a very dark and interesting character who capitlises on the heroes weakness in a very unique way.Secondly the heroes journey of self discovery gives one a better understanding of his shadowy world. Finally for me personally the heroes old Japanese friend and mentor gives the novel some extra spice with his insights into the other characters. The book unfolds like a drama albeit an exotic one at that and the action comes in at the right pace and in satisfactory doses. This is a different kind of action novel with a range of whole new ideas and concepts which though fairly confusing doesn't dissapoint.I'd recommend this one for action lovers looking for something new.

(Evan) I heard the crashes first, from the alleyways of the city. And then I get the text from the National Ninjago Alerts, the one that says of two students alone in an alley. Of a stone warrior coming back and attacking them. I look at the attendance sheets and realize. Trystan and Fin were gone. - I got the call from Evan just as I was biting into my midnight snack. "Sensei Darius, this is urgent! Two of our students escaped and got attacked! I am going to go find them, get them to safety!" I shake my head before remembering he can't see me. "We have other students, Evan. We can't risk their lives, too." He protests. "But Trystan and Fin could be in critical condition!" I groan. "Fine. I'll fly back." - (I hope this is okay... -Kai517)
