Who Is Mike Jones?by Mike Jones
If The Source handed out an award for Most Accessible MC, Swishahouse's self-made Mike Jones would be an easy bet. His greatest asset is self-promotion, which would still be the case if he were an above-average rapper. Jones promotes himself so audaciously that he might as well provide a key to his house with each mixtape he sells. He claims to field so many calls from his hotline -- a hotline he allegedly answers when he's not busy pronouncing, "Mike Jones! Hit me up at 281-330-8004!," to any life form within earshot -- that you must wonder if he's able to spend any time improving his mic skills. His first album with major label distribution (after a series of independent releases and mixtapes), naturally titled Who Is Mike Jones?, doesn't really answer any questions, though it does tell you that he can look real good when surrounded with the right people. He hits paydirt with "Still Tippin'," a magnificent thing so woozy in effect that you could be racing a sports car down a freeway and still feel like you're navigating a Hummer through a lake of curdled cough syrup. Here, producer Salih Williams and featured MCs Slim Thug and Paul Wall outshine Jones to such an extent that, after hearing it, you might be prompted to ask, "Where was Mike Jones?" Still, Jones is ultimately very likable, shown best in the closing track, a sweet tribute to his supportive late grandmother.

this cd is really tight all the songs are good except for a couple the ones i didnt like were:turning lane and what ya know about, those ones have good beats but lyrics are wack but the rest of the cd is tight
Damn!!!!!!!!!! dis cd is hot. He's one of da best outta Houston. Dirty South run da music industry everyone need 2 relize dat and now dey will.
I was feeling him when he popped on the scene but he is not an MC who will last long..Enough with the "MIKEJONES" gimmick... It will drive you crazy after a while.Right now if i had to say, Slim Thugga is the hot ticket right now, tighter MC skills, production way better than this product. Who is Mike Jones anyway!!!EXACTLY MY POINT...We will not hear from this guy "5 YEARS FROM NOW" give it up "MIKE JONES" it's not hot homeboy!
The beats on the album are tight as hell, but the whole "2813308004" thing is getting kind of old. Some of the lyrics are on point, but for the most part, if you own a swishahouse mix cd, u've already heard 45% of this album.
Mike Jones is a genius. You gotta have this album if you are a Swishahouse fan.
Well, after waiting for over 2 years for this album I must say that Mike Jones didn't dissapoint. Every track is very polished. No lame tracks here. Mike Jones' delivery and lyrics have really matured since he first hit the underground scene. The bonus screwed disc, which is screwed and chopped by Dj Michael Watts, is the cherry on top. Micael "5000" Watts is one of the best DJ's in nations, if not the best. Every track is mixed, screwed, and chopped nicely. With the release of this album, the Swisha House, a former indie label, is now a major rap label.
