Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
With the arrival of winter's ice and snow, the woodland animals are hibernating in various places in their habitat. Find out where the animals are resting through the winter. The text is presented in rhyming couplets. The color pictures illustrate and show the animals in hibernation like a black bear and her cub snuggled in a cave or a turtle resting in the pond's mud. At the back of the book, adults will find a few ideas to engage the children as they explore the book together. For instance, children may interact with the text by identifying animals, joining in on the repeating verse, or recognizing the rhyming words. Additional resources with photographs of the animals may help the children to understand what the animal actually looks like. This book is part of the "Rookie Preschool: Rookie Learn About Nature" series which cover different topics and concepts. Early childhood consultants provided guidance with the series.
