Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carlee Hallman
In verse, this book begins with questions children might ask about creation. "So who made the world? God, I think it was you. Did you have a helper? If so, tell me who!" The picture shows children picking peaches along with a cat. God's answer: "Yet in the beginning, way back at the start, the Spirit and Jesus were there, taking part." The picture shows two children looking at a stained glass window of a cross. At the end various Bible passages from the New Living Translation published by Tyndale back up the text: "The Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Genesis 1:2 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him and nothing was created except through him. John 1:1-3" The charming colored pictures of children swimming, making angels in the snow, and picking up litter are by the artist who does "Care Bears." The children are of various ethnic backgrounds. Kids will enjoy the pictures and rollicking verses as they learn about God and creation. Reviewer: Carlee Hallman

Chapter One

The world is so pretty! There's so much to see. A rainbow! A river! A flower! A tree!

So who made the world? God, I think it was you. Did you have a helper? If so, tell me who!

What was the first thing you made, and the last? Did you snap your fingers to make it go fast?

You've asked some great questions-you sound very smart! Now open your Bible. See there, at the start, are some of the answers to questions you seek. And now, turn the page-it is God's turn to speak!

It's hard to believe that there ever could be a time when the only one living was me.

Yet in the beginning, way back at the start, the Spirit and Jesus were there, taking part.

I looked all around; it was empty and dark. I had an idea-just a glimmer, a spark.

I took a deep breath and said, "Let there be light!" That's how it first started: with day and with night.

    I Also Recommend:

Great preschool book that answers the question, "Who Made the World?"

Charming illustrations by the artist who developed the Care Bears. The story is written by Kathleen Long Bostrom who is a pastor. This book is written to address the questions young children often ask about God and how He created everything in the world. These questions are answered in a conversational manner. The second half of the books lists each question and provides the answer with a Scripture reference. The NLT version of the Bible is used. As a parent of six children, I liked the way that these questions are answered on a young child's level.

    I Also Recommend:

    A wonderful little book!

This is the most darling book I have read for children that pertains to God. The illustrations are so precious and sweet.

I love how the stories are written at first from a child's perspective with all their typical "Why?" and "How?" questions. In the begining the children thank God for making such a beautiful place for them to live in but are still filled with questions for him.

In the second part of the book "God" answers those quesions for the children.

The story is written as one long poem. It all blends very nicely.

The book is geared towards children ages 3-6. A child just starting to read might be able to read parts of the book too since it's written in easy to understand words.

This would make a perfect bedtime story or addition to a Sunday School library.

What is the Bible is also another charming book from the Little Blessings series.

    Family Time

"Who Made the World?" is one of the latest books by author Kathleen Bostrom. In this book, you'll find that it favors the on going theme in all the Little Blessings books, addressing common questions. Each story book covers question like "Where Do I come From, How Should We Thank God, and What did God make first and last?", all commonly asked by younger children withing the ages of 3-6 in their search of learning more about God and creation.

The illustrations by Elena Kucharik, draw children in and correspond well with the story being told with animated behavior and cheerful colors.

One of my on going favorite features is that at the end of the book as well as in any of the Little Blessings books is the of Bible references section. These references go along with the story which was written in rhyme, an ingenoius way to help children remember what was read.

I look forward to collecting more of the books in this series to share with my children.

I highly recommend this book for those of you wanting to meet children on their level of learning about the Word of God. This book makes for a wonderful resource for parents, Sunday school teachers, and even grandparents.

    An excellent book

This small, 5 3/4 X 7 1/4, hardcover books are a great addition to any Christian's home. Helping little ones ages 3 to 6 get answers that sometimes even adults have trouble answering, whether the trouble is that we don't actually know the answer or we're unsure as to how we need to word it for a child, this book helps. At 80 pages it's a quick read or it can be made into a mini Bible study using the Bible references at the back of the book and going, as age allows, into more depth about what the book teaches.

The illustrations and wonderfully done and engaging to children of any age. My children were constantly pointing out something new about a picture that I had missed. The illustrations shows children being active in the world around them and enjoying God's creations of animals, space and plants. The children are happy in the books and I noticed when reading this to a grumpy or tired child their disposition changed for the better - a more Godly attitude.

I do recommend this book for any family that wants to keep instilling Biblical truths in their children, as we are told to do through out the entire day. These books would be ideal for any Christian, regardless of denomination, just to simply answer children's questions. Church libraries, private school libraries would even benefit from these books, they would also make a wonderful Christmas, Easter, birthday or baby dedication gift as there is a illustrated "presented to" area in the front of the book.

    Who Made the World? Bostrom/Kucharik

"Who Made the World?" by Kathleen Bostrom answers frequently asked questions from the minds of young children about God and how He was made? This is just one of Kathleen's newest releases from the Little Blessings series. Her books are geared towards children ages 3 to 6 and are perfect read-to-me books.

The illustrations are wonderful, thanks to the talented work of artist, Elena Kucharik,
from Care Bears. She helps brighten the story with each heartfelt and charming illustration.

If you have small children, you know that they are always asking questions. Even my three year old daughter, asked questions and had me stop to discuss each picture as I read aloud the story to her. She is inquisitive and wanted to know who is God's wife.

I believe many parents will appreciate the Bible reference section at the rear of the book. These references correlate with the rhyming story, an imaginative way to
help children remember what is being read to them.

I recommend this adorable, yet important book for those of you wanting to meet children on their level of learning about the Word of God. If you are a parent, grandparent or even a Sunday School teacher, then you may want to share the Little Blessings series with your children or students. Kathleen has written over a dozen stories with your child in mind.
