Someone told me that this book was "the best take down of celebrity since the Great Gatsby," and it's even more
than that. While it focuses on a fictional downtown "family" of wanna be artists, It's an insider look at the vortex of hipster culture, the twenty-somethings in NYC who make themselves
internet stars and become "it kids' in the media. It hit home since I went to NYC and traveled with a lot of the
art and music crowds. It cuts past the media propaganda, goes behind closed doors to the fractured human
beings behind the public stars they show to the world. It's NYC youth shown in a  darkly humorous way that is relevant and real.
