Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 3-5-This biography describes Einstein's early struggle to harness and focus his extraordinary abilities; his relationships with his family and first wife; and, lending depth to the story, his most significant scientific discoveries. Brallier does an adequate job of presenting the facts and injects touches of humor into his text. He also discusses Einstein's exile from Germany in the early 1930s and his political views and activities, including the irony that the man who strove for a world without war helped to create the atomic bomb. There are several full-page sidebars, including one on "The Magnetic Earth" and another on "Hitler and the Nazis," and two time lines that contrast world events with those of the scientist's life. Black-and-white cartoon illustrations do little to enhance the text.-Carol Fazioli, formerly at The Brearley School, New York City Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.

    Brilliant

I found these books when my son had to do a report on a real person. I think he was in 5th or 6th grade. You would think by the cover that they are for younger kids but we read it together and we both loved it. It is history but in a way that kids understand. It gives all the details of his life that you need but in a fun way. We now have a collection of these books and my younger kids are starting to read them. I have to say that I am just as excited when we get a new one as the kids. How wonderful to have books that make historical people fun to learn about. I wish they made more!!

As a science teacher, I finally think I understand his theories!

Explanation of his life and events in history were explained in a way that I missed as a child. I have read three books from the series and found I had a better understanding of the those parts of history! My niece recommended them all to me. They are also funny.

    Albert Einstein

I'm only 8 years old and I've read this book. I love the way they set up the book. I found this book in my classroom and I think my teacher made a very smart choice putting Who Was Albert Einstein in our class. Who Was Albert Einstein is a historical story about a genius. I highly recommend Who Was Albert Einstein fof young, eager readers.
