Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
A lifelong enthusiastic cook, Pascal had to change how she thought about food completely when her four-month-old son was diagnosed with severe food allergies. This book is the result, containing more than 200 recipes that are free of the eight most common allergenic ingredients: dairy, egg, wheat, soy, peanut, tree nut, fish, and shellfish. Anyone following a vegan diet will also find this a valuable resource for baked goods since all of the breads, cookies, and cakes are dairy- and egg-free. It is not a specifically vegetarian cookbook, though, as it contains recipes for comfort foods like Chicken Potpie and Lamb Stew. There are recipes for every occasion, whether it's for Chocolate Layer Cake or Homemade Granola Bars. Most important, the author understands how real families shop, cook, and eat and offers suggestions on how to adapt to the food-allergic lifestyle. Of particular value are the lists of foods to keep on hand, what to buy at the grocery store, and a list of great mail and Internet resources. Highly recommended for public libraries.-Wendy Bethel, Southwest Public Libs., Grove City, OH Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.

    I LOVE this book!

This is the first book I have ever been in love with! I am breastfeeding my daughter who is currently 7 months old¿due to her allergies I can not eat anything with dairy, soy, eggs or nuts. ALL the recipes in this book do not include these ingredients. It is so nice to be able to be able to pick up a cookbook and make any recipe in it. After trying many of her recipes, I have decided I eventually want to make everything in this book at least once. I will never be deprived from exciting, tasty food again! I wish I knew of this book earlier¿if I knew of any other families with similar allergies I would rush them a copy of this book! Cybele¿s recipes include a great variety of restaurant quality foods from gourmet to home style. All the tastes I love are included¿so if I am craving something I used to be able to eat¿I can find something like it (or better) in her book. When you eat her food you do not feel like anything is missing. I have always tried to stick to organic, whole foods both for taste and health her book incorporates this with the addition of excluding allergenic foods. I can serve these dishes to guest without any hesitation¿in fact I prepared a gourmet 5-course meal using the recipes in this book for some good friends last night (who did not have food allergies) and they all raved about the meal. Everyone cleaned their plates, some asked for seconds and one joked ¿If this is the way you eat with allergies I think we all should get some allergies.¿ Cybele¿s book is wonderfully organized. I love the provided grocery list, with the brands she uses listed, and where to order the foods from if I am unable to find them in our grocery store. It is so nice to have this work done for me! I recommend any fans to check out Cybele¿s blog where she offers even more ideas, recipes and family updates. (Because of the 'rules' I couldn't provide a link). If a second edition were to ever be made the only suggestion for change I would have would be to include pictures of prepared foods. Thank you Cybele!

    Excellent

The Whole Foods Allergy Cookbook contains magnificent recipes, which result in delicious meals. Cybele Pascal has done a fabulous job at creating dishes that would make any person with food allergies happy! The recipes are so wonderful the entire family will enjoy them. When faced with the devastating news that one of her sons had severe food allergies, Pascal rose to the challenge and developed healthful meals for her whole family. She comes from a family of outstanding cooks and 15 years of restaurant work experience. The recipes are easy-to-follow, made with fresh ingredients. There is a list of resources available too, that adds to the element of interest to newly diagnosed people. With the alarming growing rise of food allergies, Cybele Pascal has demonstrated that everyone can benefit from eating healthier with fresh organic food and simple to follow recipes!

    Highly recommended for parents

Even if your own child doesn't seem to have food allergies, you are sure to know some that do. Personally, I use the recipes in this book to make snacks or desserts for school parties, for after school snacks and suppers for my daughter's friends and for holiday work parties. There is usually someone around who can't eat something, and whether it is dairy or wheat or peanuts, all the recipes in this book are safe, and I've tried a bunch of them now and they are real crowd pleasers! I particularly recommend the Raspberry Streusel Bars, the Classic Chocolate Layer Cake, the Avocado Mayonnaise (no eggs!), the Beer-Battered Chicken Nuggets, and the Cornbread and Wild Mushroom Stuffing.

Brillant goument and homestyle cook, freind

Cybele's recipes are great. It's simple and delious and that includes her gourmet recipes. I found out a couple years ago that I am autistic and allergic to diary, gluten and grapes. Her recipe incorparates that, she allows you to subsuitue that wheat-free flour for gluten free flour. I found out through her husband who I worked with for a day and he recommanded it. I'm glad that this is working, not only can I eat with out getting sick but I'm gaining weight also!! I can eat her recipes and live off a rite aid clerk pay'while waiting for a big break', still having money left over. For like seeing her husband in concert, paying to go to the city, headshots, etc. Thanks Cybele!!!! I love her: Greek style chicken, Red Naples sauce, Spegetti and Turkey meatballs, Sweet Grits, Coconut Rice,Lousianna Sloppy Joes, Raf's cuban beans and rice, Banana Cupcakes, lamb in Tarragon and Malosses Glaze, Breaded Chicken and Grilled Peppers, Pesto and Penne, Chicken Marsala, Turkey Meatloaf, turkey Burgers with Camamerlized Onions,Polenta Pie, New Potatoes with parsley, Oven backed sweet Potato Fries, Curreid popcorn munch, Fried Bananas, Basic biscuts
