Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Whole Pet Diet addresses health concerns in dogs and cats from the preventative nutrition angle. Believing that our pets are what they eat, author Brown maps out an entire program that any pet owner can understand and follow. She assesses your pet's condition; provides weekly food and exercise tracking charts and a weekly "checkup" guide; discusses vitamins and supplements; and shares many recipes and helpful tips. She concludes with suggestions for further reading and an index. Both authors are knowledgeable in their respective fields and include the usual precautions and disclaimers about following the advice of your veterinarian to ensure that the health and welfare of your pet is not compromised. Both titles are recommended, especially where interest in pets is high. Edell M. Schaefer, Brookfield P.L., WI Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.

Must Read for all pet owners

This is an excellent book for pet owners who want to get down to the root of their pets health problems. There are many different health issues addressed and simple remedies to correct them in this book. It has easy to follow healthy recipes and a simple 8 week plan. Because I have been using the supplements that the book suggest,my dogs allergies have subsided. She is no longer ithching and licking herself endlessly. I can't thank Andi enough for sharing her experience!

Good for some but not for me

This would be a great diet if my dog had not gotten ill on it. I followed everything to the letter and about 4 weeks in I had a dog with serious diarrhea. I hadn't gotten to the week of adding B supplements etc so it could be we weren't getting enough nutrition there. Or he may have an allergy to one of the foods. In any case we are back to kibble. I liked the book and Brown's writing-it's not overwhelmingly medical-and the recipes are not difficult to make. My dog loved them when they were fresh...after freezing he wasn't so wild about them. One major plus while he was on that diet is the brown stains under his eyes disappeared. They are still gone after another month on the kibble but it is a vet formula with no dyes. There are several people at my dog park who feed their animals a whole diet after reading Brown's book and they have been very successful.

Changed My Dog's Life and Mine!

I had a very sickly three year old Cock-a-poo before reading this book. Spent more money and time at the vets. Autumn (my dog)was always sick with many stomach ailments, she also was a very picky eater, usually leaving most of her food. I must have tried 50 different dog foods over the three years. In addition, she was always tired and acting like a 12 year old dog, instead of a young dog of her age.

After reading this book, I started "home cooking" for Autumn following the recipes, in only three weeks there was a huge difference in her coat, her appetite and her activity. Now, four months later, she is a totally different dog. Almost like a puppy, always wanting to play. Her coat is beautiful - silky, shiny with no matting. The oils recommended for the "first" week in the book are just wonderful.

I have recommended this book to so many of my friends who own dogs and they also have switched to cooking for their dogs. They all have the same results and agree that the time and cost is worth these results! I also gave the book to my Vet, he thought it was a great diet and also thought Autumn looked wonderful on her November "wellness" visit and told me to keep up the good work. He also thought I was brushing her teeth - they looked so good (I am not!) He went out and bought the book to add to his library. Thank You Andi Brown!!

Truly remarkable - a MUST READ for any pet lover

I have written reviews for trip advisor, but never before felt compelled to write a review for book. I was somewhat skeptical at first, but Ms Brown has made a believer out of me. The book itself was a pleasant and charming read - I enjoyed the personal tone, subtle humor and was moved by the individual stories. What wowed me more than anything else is how my nine year old golden retriever's health has improved since I read the book and started practicing what Andi Brown is preaching. My dog has the greatest temperament in the world (he's a golden!), but suffers from debilitating allergies (he's a golden!) and the side effects are ¿itchy dog syndrome,¿ dry coat, dry and scabby skin, loss of hair, chronic ear and eye infection ¿. And if that¿s not enough, it appears that his immune system has been so compromised that he has had a tough time fighting off ticks. After two weeks of us following the eight week plan, the results were good¿. we are now on week seven and I am stunned and amazed at how remarkably well my dog is doing ¿ he looks and acts four years younger. My veterinarian will probably not recognize her patient¿ hopefully, she will prescribe this book to her other patients. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am so grateful that this book was written and that I was fortunate enough to read it. I look forward to writing back in another month to report on Charlie's progress. I am also anxious to read about the miracles that other pets and owners have experienced.

    Insightful

Holistic pet care at its greatest. This book will become the must-have for every pet owner. Andi de-mysticizes the holistic approach and shows how natural and easy it is to have a slender, happy, healthy pet. She also debunks commercial pet food as actually being healthy. Why would you ever feed your pet something you wouldn't eat? Every pet should be on the Whole Pet Diet as a lifestyle.

    Saved my dog's life

I had been told by several diffferent veterinarians that my dog would never be well. I had him on the premium foods and prescription medications and spent thousands of dollars. For nearly three years I felt sad about his hair loss, weight gain, lack of energy and constant ithcing. He was a mess until I found this book and used the program. I am only in the third week of the plan, and the change in him has been dramatic. I am telling everyone about this book, because my friends with both dogs and cats seem to have issues all the time. I never knew it was because of the food. I recommend that everyone who loves their pets read this book. You can tell it's from the author's heart and is a simple way to achieve great health.
