In Amish Heart, Emma is found alive and comes home, leaving unanswered questions that could challenge the faith of the Old Order Amish community.

Jacob Smith confesses his love for Esther Miller. Will she reject him since he left the order to be "Englisch," or will she accept him and risk being put in the bann?

Come across the Turnpike and down the sloping early-winter-kissed hills of Lancaster County to see how a Plain community joins hands to receive a miracle, all while a blossoming love is challenged.

    Keeps the reader's interest

I read Vol.'s 1, 2, and 3 in separate installments. The first two volumns were good but both ended in mid-sentence; The second book didn't seem to pick up where the first one left off. There was such a gap in time between the second book and the release of the third that I had forgotten much of the story line, who was who, etc. The trials of this one family were overwhelming, both for the characters and for the reader. While all three books kept my interest, I don't think they are the best I've ever read. I would not recommend this series to serious, intelligent readers.
