Whoever said "whoring wasn't easy" never lied! But somebody had to do it!

Working the mean streets of Detroit was getting hard on young Kamone, with two small mouths to feed. Forced to get on the grind non-stop by her madam, Cookie, after being abandoned by her dopefiend, HIV infected mother, there's nothing Kamone won't do to get that paper - drugs, murder, sex, lies and videotapes! That is, until she is scandalously set up to be raped, drugged and left for dead.

Just when Kamone thinks it's the end, she finds what every bad girl longs for - a bad boy with a heart, who literally picks her up out of the gutter. But will Lucci's thug passion be enough to satisfy Kamone's lustful habits? Or will she run back to the only life she knows?

    I Also Recommend:

Dramatic? Very. Well-written? Not so much...

So many words come to mind when I think of this book but none of them seem to be good or praise-worthy. This the author's, Tanika Lynch, first book and it shows in every possible way. The storytelling, simply-put, is a hot, ghetto mess. The protagonist, Kamone, is only 15 years old and yet she's experienced everything that can go wrong in a person's life. Exaggerated melodrama ensues in this "realistic" fiction.

Everyone in the story is completely one-dimensional. Development is a thing of fantasy for these characters. Following the usual routine of stereotypical African-American fiction, this book manages what I previously thought to be impossible by worsening it. The protagonist is your basic young, beautiful female who's good intentions led her down a terrible path. Prostitution becomes her last resort if she wants to keep a roof over her siblings' heads. Not long after does she fully-experience the tainted world of sex and drugs. Eventually, her decision lead her to getting raped and left for dead before being found by an urban kingpin with a heart of gold. Why isn't there a lot of stories that doesn't portray black men as thugs, drug-dealers or womanizers? The story would've worked just as well, if not better, had a well-established lawyer took her under his care but very seldom does an urban story has an honorable man as the lover interest.

The writing is abysmal. Everything has very little detail, if any at all, and the story just fails in every aspect. The characters are hard to empathize with because there's little effort in detailing their actions and motivations. Everyone is an empty shell. And don't even get me started on the grammatical errors. There's no way to justify why a story that would take an adequate reader less than 5 hours to finish had so many simple typos. "Triple Crown Publications" clearly doesn't put too much money into buying a good editor because I could skim through each page in mere seconds and point out the errors from a mile away.

I wanted to be nice and give the story two stars but it truly doesn't deserve it. It's just HORRID and I don't understand all the 5 stars. I suggest that the people who are reviewing the story with 5 stars need to go out and read more books.

    outstanding

I really enjoyed this book. I stopped doing my work many times to just read. kamone and her brother and sister went through alot. She showed strenght like no other. This is a book that dont need a part two. It was well detailed and although she went through alot, she found happiness.

    Whore

I love this book!!! That was really good, my favorite part waws how Kamone took good care of her younger siblings.....Kamone was really an inspiration to me and I want to thank her for that it really helped !!!THANKS!!! Also I think that was really bold and messed up how Kamone's mom just up and left Kamone and her younger siblings. The last thing I want to commend Lucci for helping Kamone, Paul, and Ivory through everything taht happened to them. I also didn't like David Lucci's twin, I didnt like what he did to there mom. He deserved to get killed exactly how he did in the book by Lucci. That was alos so bold how he used Kamone and make her things she did in her past......and he did right in front of Ivory and she was scared...... I read this book in 1 day it cought my eye and I loved it.

    YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!

This book held my attention from the very first page. OMG, where do I begin......... I love the way all of the charaters came to life and seem to have so much personality. Now I will not lie at first, the title and new author had me spooked. But none the less I was so very impressed by the talent of this new author. So impressed in fact that I read the entire book in 5 hours. Great Book!!!
