"Addiction is an equal opportunity destroyer" was the most profound quote written by Joe Herzanek in "Why Don't They Just Quit?" If you are a parent of an addict you will relate to that quote profoundly. This book should be in every home if addiction has challenged your family in any way. "Why Don't They Just Quit?" is a family education course in a very easy to read book with bold subtitles, questions and answers and others stories at the end. Hope is woven all through it.

I came across "Why Don't They JUST QUIT?" while searching for books on the subject of families and friends of loved ones in recovery from drug addiction, and I must say, I found this gem to be the most thoughtful, insightful & informational books on the topic of families and friends of recovering and active addicts. I don't have to give up on my loved one; in fact, I am now better prepared mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for any worst-case scenario thanks to this Godsend of a book.

A treasured resource for anyone wanting to better understand addiction. Joe makes a complicated subject easy to understand, and he offers a wealth of wisdom from one who has "been there." If you buy just a few books on addiction, this should be one of them. I sure wish Why Don't They Just Quit? had been around when I was struggling with addiction in our family.

I am the granddaughter of an alcoholic, the daughter of an alcoholic, the wife of a recovering addict, and the mother of a recovering addict. Addiction runs deep and wide in our family. "Why Don't They JUST QUIT" is honest, uncomplicated, straightforward, and yet profound in so many ways. Anyone dealing with addiction, whether personally or with a loved one, could read it and easily understand it, relate to it and learn from it. I will be recommending "Why Don't They JUST QUIT?" to many.
