this book is an excellent analysis of the areas of vulnerability in the life of a spiritual leader. Unfortunately, there is an abundance of examples of recent failures of church leaders and it is heartbreaking to read and by reminded of such things.
What makes Goodall's approach helpful, however, is not just describing the points of vulnerability but also proposing a strategy for each. I found myself evaluating whether or not my personal plan of attack was adequate for a sustainable life and whether or not there was room for improvement.
Each chapter is insightful, practical, and brief.
This is an easy to read book that really should be worked through slowly to make sure that proper self-evaluation is happening. It also would be a good resource for small group discussion.
I recommend it as a 'must-read' for old and younger leaders alike. May God give us the grace to overcome.
