Why Men Don't Listen and Women Can't Read Maps: How We're Different and What to Do about It

Not researched!

Many, many statements were written as FACT, when really the fact of the matter is, these statements are up for scientific debate. Such as, how men became homosexuals and how females became lesbians. Also, it is strongly stated as FACT that we evolved through evolution. Anyone reading this needs to be careful and understand that the writers did not do enough research to give you correct answers. They stated their naive opinions as facts! BE CAREFUL!

men can listen, and women can read maps... this book illuminates HOW men and women differ... its a great book that brings out the inadequacies of both sexes without placing blame. Its too bad the title will turn off psuedo-intellectuals. Oh well.

Some Thoughtful Insights

Goes into the differences of men and women and how their brains work differently. Some thoughtful perspectives, but light in technical perspective in some areas. Other texts in the same genre may provide more insight. The author's other book on body language was more informative.

Homosapiens users guide for idiots

I wish I had this book at earlier stage of my life which allowed me to figure out matters beyond the scope of the book itself. It's a good start to get to know yourself and others near you. Together you can aim for the right direction to a joyful life. Many thanks to authors and to my dear friend who gifted it to me.

Relationship Bible

This is a must read for those looking to understand their partner, themselves and to improve their relationship. Every page you are reading and saying to yourself, 'Hey, that sounds just like me!'. Very enlightening and entertaining at the same time. This is has been the most helpful book in improving my own relationships that I have read thus far.

Interesting, but sexist piece of work

While an interesting book to read, this book focuses too much on the differences between the sexes. Many gender communication scholars are going away from this approach and looking at the similarities between the sexes. This book continues the trend of holding up sexist stereotypes under the guise that it's biological. Most people do not realize that the 'nature vs. nurture' argument has been going on for decades, with each side enjoying popularity over the other from time to time. This, and other books, were published during a surge for the 'nature' argument. Anyone who reads this and isn't even just a little bit insulted by the stereotypes really should be. However, the Peases do address this and mention that they are talking about the 'average' male and female. It is a shame that instead of trying to look at how we are similar and make the world a better place for men and women to get along in, we are still looking at how we are different to hold up a sexist culture. If you do not take the information to heart fully, it's an interesting book to read.

Anyone who doesn't like this book hasn't bothered to read it.

My boyfriend and I are on a 4 month trip around North America and this book was recommended to us by a fellow traveler. This book is excellent. It's an interesting, humerous, scientific fact based book that leads the reader to a better understanding of themselves and others. It's written in an easy to understand format. Anyone who is off put by the title needs to relax and give it a chance. Excellent read and excellen value.

Look past the title, it's a great read!

Ironically enough, the title made me want to read it. The book is based on sound socio-biological principles and thorough research. It explains a lot for me and I concur with the other positive reviews of this book. Well worth the money!

A great book

After being introduced to this book by a friend, I became very curious. At the same time, I had the same feeling as one of the other reviewer when she said she can read a map. I am the navigator in the family and I always know where I am going or how to read a map. However, that did not prevent me from being open-minded and read this book. A lot of things the author talks about make so much sense. It is definitely a good book! For girls/women out there, dont be thrown off by the title if you do know how to read a map!!

If you've ever wondered how a man's mind works, this book provides answers.

I read this book and couldn't stop talking about it. The humorous examples were dead-on! The authors show how men and women both have wonderful skills and qualities that have evolved over the centuries and because these skills complement each other they can often lead to misunderstanding between the sexes. The authors stress these are not absolute assessments to how every single man and woman think and act and I agree; they are not. However, I was able to relate to most of the book and the friends and family I've discussed it with are in accord. I understand my husband's mindset a little better now and I'm able to consider that he looks at things differently and it's not wrong, it's just different. And yes I can read a map, just not using the same methods my husband does!

I know how to read a map--- and I'm a woman!!!

The title of this book is enough to make me want to instruct everyone I know not to EVER buy a book from this author or publishing company. A poll of the five women in the room with me right now shows that we can all read maps. Perhaps this book is perpetuating stereotypes by making its baseless and broad generalizations. This is exactly the type of book the world does NOT need.

Not recommend at all - instead that, buy book "Men are from mars women are from venus"

I just finish read this book and other one ("Why men lie...")
I cannot believe how many anger is in those books!
It is obvious that large part of book is writing by women! There is so many unpleasant sentences about men.
Several times I stop the reading, and wish to throw book in fire!
But, there is minority where I really find out something useful about women. Thank you for that!
But on the other hand, I find much more useful things in book "Men are from mars women are from venus" by John Gray.
