Overview

Has this happened to you? You're cruising down a Texas highway, and you blast past a historical roadside marker, wondering what tidbit of local lore you may have missed. Well, wonder no more. With this latest edition of Why Stop? you can read and enjoy more than 2,600 of these historical markers without stopping your car, or even leaving your home. This new fifth edition is expanded to include more than one hundred new historical roadside markers that contain the actual inscriptions on many of Texas' most prominent and interesting roadside markers. It's handy and simple to use because it lists alphabetically the hundreds of cities and towns nearest the markers and pinpoints each marker with specific highway and mileage information. You can find them easily whether you're in your car (a fun pastime for passengers young and old) or in your favorite reading chair at home.
