I understand this person's point but I feel that this argument is a little flawed.I feel that the original trilogy needs the new movies to tie in loose ends. The new movies add to the lore and full understanding of the story. They also provide more character development to some of the more important characters in the older movies. Also, they give us greater insight into the conflicts of the galaxy, the Jedi-Sith conflicts, and a deeper look into their philosophies and existence. They do not deserve canon material like the Clone Wars show does so I say no harm no foul.Again, this is just my personal opinion on this matter.

I agree the prequels were created so u would understand the movies. Without them the originals wouldnt make sense and there wouldnt be as many fans as there are today
