Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
Questions guide the presentation of general information and facts about Earth. Earthquakes, fossils, mountains, and caves are just some of the topics. There are illustrations throughout the book along with insets showing additional information. Some of the illustrations are diagrams with labels. The table of contents lists the questions; however, students looking for specific information may find the index more helpful. Those students who are doing research will need additional resources for more information on their topic. Students who enjoy reading different facts about Earth will probably like the brevity of the question and answer format. Discussions and demonstrations may be needed to follow some of the readings to clarify the information and the diagrams. Some children may need guidance on how to use or read the text because the headings, subheadings, and insets are on different areas of the layout. This book is one in the "Why Why Why" series which covers a variety of topics in science and history. The presentation and format are similar in each of the titles. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung
