Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 4–7—Mouse skin eyebrows? Spiders in your ears? Humans with tails? And, by the way, what is the only human organ that can regenerate itself? In this abridged edition of the adult book Why Is Yawning Contagious? (Penguin, 2008), solid scientific information related through unforgettable yet somewhat absurd facts will imprint systematic truths on young minds and provide them with fodder for interesting input to almost any conversation. Used as a preamble and supplement to human-biology studies, this fun book doesn't shy away from any aspect of bodily functions. Kids will likely remember what they read here.—Kathryn Diman, Bass Harbor Memorial Library, Bernard, ME
Children's Literature - Sarah Maury Swan
This newly abridged version such an informative book will have the reader shuddering in gross excitement and grabbing a magnifying glass to look for bugs in his eyelashes. In addition to telling the reader about health issues with her body, the book gives information on weird medical practices around the globe. For instance, some South American tribes still use the heads of soldier ants as stitches on a wound. Seems to work well. Broken down into eight sections, the book covers lots of interesting information about our skin, our hair, our skeleton, our blood and guts, our poop, our brain, our eyes and our nose. The answer to what happens to astronauts' poop is reveled. Seemed to be a painful procedure—how would you like to have your poop vacuumed out of you? Space travelers have a low-fiber diet to keep from having to poop too often. Here's a possible way to stop "brain freeze" after you've eaten ice cream; press your tongue to the roof of your mouth behind your front teeth to warm the area up. So learn more about your body and be a healthier person. Reviewer: Sarah Maury Swan

I always take advantage off the sample. Its like opening up a book in the book store before you buy it. But all I got with this free sample was copy right info. Why bother with a sample at all? I won't be buying this book.
