Authors Frank Ohrtman and Konrad Roeder then address specific issues, such as range, security, and quality of service. They provide a close look at voice over 802.11. In Chapter 7, the authors tackle the many areas one must consider in building an 802.11 network. They go on to explain the economic aspects of wireless and the regulatory aspects of 802.11. The authors conclude with an outstanding discussion of the four major objections that have been made to the proposal to adopt 802.11 as a "last mile" solution (that is, access to a greater network) -- be it Internet or the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).
