Tantalizing & Complex Reviewed by Paige Lovitt for Reader V

    Tantalizing & Complex

Reviewed by Paige Lovitt for Reader Views (3/12)

Tall, dark and sexy, Zachary Steele has a reputation for being a “faithless womanizer.” His history has proven this to be true. When his exotically beautiful ex-girlfriend Madigan is coerced back into his life, by her mother, things get very complicated. Zachary once pushed Madigan away because he was afraid of the depth of his feelings for her. Now that she is back in town and in business with him, he is very confused. Incredibly drawn to her, he fears he did too much damage to be able to salvage their relationship. Still, they find themselves unable to avoid the physical attraction that they still have for each other.

Sharing her exotic beauty with her two other sisters, Madigan has suffered a great deal throughout her whole life because of the damage caused by her two selfish manipulative parents. Her sisters have also been affected by their obvious need to control them, and their lack of loving parenting skills. Madigan’s mother uses the guise of reuniting with her daughter to get her to come back into their lives. Having the majority of shares in Zachary’s business, her mom can pretty much do what she wants, or so she thinks. Hoping to gain some peace in her relationship with her mother, Madigan agrees to return. She is a bit surprised to learn that her mother wants her to be involved with “Wicked Allure.” Advertised to be a spa, “Wicked Allure” also offers special SPA services. SPA stands for Sensual Pleasure Anonymously. The SPA services are offered to wealthy patrons with a taste for the exotic.

Working in a sexually charged environment makes things even more difficult for Madigan and Zachary. It makes it impossible for them to avoid the needs that they have for each other. It also brings some people into the picture who desire to create havoc for the both of them. On the other hand, Madigan’s return to town gives her the opportunity to get closer to her sisters and hopefully right some of the wrongs from their pasts. As she is working on this, there are some surprises that could directly affect her reunion with Zachary. Now it is his turn to prove himself.

“Wicked Allure” offers the perfect blend of erotic romance and drama. The sensual scenes that are played throughout the story are very well written and will definitely draw the reader into an incredible escape from their mundane world. The characters are both complex and sexy, and some of the bad ones are truly bad to the bone, which allows for an incredible amount of turmoil in the story.

I really enjoyed reading “Wicked Allure” by Leslie C. Ferdinand and feel that because it offers the perfect blend of sensuality and drama it has a lot more to offer than some of the typical erotic romances.

Madigan DeLeon has come home to work on her relationship with her Mother, Karolyn. A little too late Madigan realizes her mother is up to her old tricks again and is medaling in her life. Karolyn has requested that Madi manage the opening of her new spa/sex club and doing so will force her to work with Zach, the reason she left home in the first place. Zach believes he had a dream, while high, where he and Madi make love and share their true feelings for each other and now Madi is being forced back into his life again and this time he can’t let her go. Can Madi let go of the past and move forward with Zach by her side. Will Zach grow a pair and finally take what he has wanted all these years?

Talk about family dynamic, it seems members of this family are medaling in each other’s lives and not always for the good. It was a great read that kept me guessing as to what could happen to this couple next to mess up their relationship. My only issue with the book is that there was a lot of information about all the characters and I would have preferred it stayed focused on Madi and Zach. The cast of characters were all entertaining and I wouldn’t mind learning more about what happens to them in a second book. Highly entertaining and sexy read.

I was given an ARC for an honest review.

Oooh, it is always exciting when drugs & booze are involved in a 2nd “First meet”. What a way to kick of an emotional roller coaster! 3 yrs prior Zach pushes Madi away to “protect” her, more like because he is scared of his feelings for her.

Madi is heartbroken; believing Zach cheated on her she gets the f*/+ out of dodge to start a new life…away from the crazy that is Zach and her family.

3 yrs later her mother manipulates her back to town with the rouse of possibly becoming a stock-holder in her father’s company, but she first has to run a business her mother acquired and who is her mother’s business partner?? Of course Zach! And what is that business that was acquired?? A Spa/Sex Club! Whoa boy!

The scene is set for a book filled with hot & steamy sex scenes, family dysfunction, dramatics and craziness. A great read, filled with so many emotions.

    AudioBook Review – Overall 4 – Story 5  Narration 3
I had read the book last year, and loved the storyline and characters: complex and loaded with emotion, baggage and the interfering hand of an overbearing and dictatorial matriarch there were many elements that enhanced the tension. Madi’s anger and Zach’s guilt were palpable and the repeated dramatic climaxes provided a never-ending thrill ride from one scene to the next. Both Madi and Zach develop and grow throughout the book, with personal insights that enable their bond to grow and survive the essential fact that they are pawns in a game.

While the story hasn’t changed, listening and reviewing the audio version did stir emotional reactions all over again, with literal snorts of disgust at the behavior of Karolyn DeLeon, matriarch, and rather spineless acceptance of the machinations of his wife from Jack. Of course there was anger, and several moments of “Oh I didn’t remember that part and NOW this fits better”. And then there were the hormone driven, uber sexy steamy scenes that both felt natural and right, and were smattered throughout the story with interesting point of view insights provided in Madi’s or Zach’s voice.

Unfortunately as much as I loved reading the story: the narration provided by Lauren Sweet did not work as well for me. Her voice is perfectly pleasant, and enunciation is correct, but there was a ‘hollow’ sound to the audio recording. When I first thought it could be headset or player related, I listened on different devices: laptop through speakers, earbuds and mixing headphones, then the same options for iPod and lastly through my kindle fire. Technically I don’t know what wasn’t quite “right”, best explanation I have is that it feels like there were two microphones in the audio recording: one close and one far – and only the further one is working properly. Additionally, there were emotional components and inflections missing from her narration: while not technically ‘bad’, there is room for improvement that would have enhanced the story and not just recited it.

What finally appears is a workable version of the story, with great emotional depth and character growth, a complex plot that has several side-stories that all feed into the twists at the end. And it most certainly is worth a read or listen.

I received an AudioBook copy from the authors for purpose of honest review at the Heard Word. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

    Betrayal, Reconciliation, and Love!

Madigan and Zach’s tumultuous relationship drew me right in. Their first sexual encounter was so steamy hot that I eagerly anticipated future encounters. Furthermore, Leslie passionately demonstrated how much these two still love each other. But, is that love enough for Madigan to forgive, forget, and move on?

I appreciate when characters grow emotionally and Madigan and Zach do not disappoint. I loved Madigan’s insightfulness when she recognizes that both partners in a relationship are culpable. It was satisfying to see Zach demonstrate his maturity by realizing that loving Madigan must include her two sisters.

I cheered when Madigan and Zach were reunited. Then Leslie completely stunned me with the surprise twist. While I was disappointed in the twist, the way Zach came through for Madigan made their ending that much sweeter.

Wicked Allure is a wonderfully written story of betrayal, reconciliation, and love that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I had previously purchased a copy of this book for my own personal enjoyment before the opportunity to review for BTS eMag was presented. As always, I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

    Hold on Tight!

Love, hate, hot steamy sex and a mother who gives Mommy Dearest a run for her money, this story has it all. From intense hatred to heart lodged in your throat moments, Wicked Allure will make you feel. I felt an emotional disconnect with Madi for the first third of the book. At 24 years of age, she seemed more like an emotionally stunted 16 year old. At this point, I wasn’t sure I liked her. Then I felt her anguish over the different relationships in her life. With such a strong reaction, I had to remind myself that it was fiction and it made me appreciate the strong relationships with the important people in my life. More than an erotic romance, Wicked Allure is about personal growth and the ups and downs of relationships. Fasten your seat belts, because you are in for one hell of an emotional ride.

I was provided a copy of the book by BTS eMag for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review – all conclusions are my own responsibility.

    Passionately Dramatic!

Wicked Allure is one read that will lure your emotions from one extreme of sexual excitement to an enticing rage of hatred. The story captured my interest immediately with the skillful writing talent in bringing the characters to life on the page. The drama is intense and gives you insight of the love, deceit, jealousy, and hatefulness between a vengeful mother (Karolyn), protective father (Jack), and shattered confused lives between three sisters Madigan (Madi), Brianna, and Kelly.

Zach and Madi’s story is extremely emotional, full of turmoil, and deceitfulness from family members trying to keep them apart. The erotic scenes between them are deliciously described and sizzling hot throughout the whole book.

Regardless of it being a multi-culture (black/white) read, I felt it did not matter in determining whether it would be a great read or not. This is an outstanding and fabulous read and I would recommend it to all my erotic reader friends. To me, race or gay, lesbian, or straight laced does not matter to me when it comes to love. Love is love and we can't help who we fall in love with.

The ending was bitter sweet with the HEA between Zach and Madi as the story’s climax came to a head leaving the reader addictive to know more about the future of the characters and if there will be another book to pick up from where this one left off. My inquiring mind is dieing to know now that Madi got her HEA, will her two other sisters Bri and Kelly get theirs with their true loves (Scott & Beau)? Will Zach’s brother Dakota find love again as well? Will Madi’s parents Jack & Karolyn come around and make amends so they can be a part of Zach & Madi’s future baby? Will the drama of the hatred and jealousy ever end?

    Great Read!
