Evanovich introduced her New York Times best-selling Lizzy and Diesel series with 2010's Wicked Appetite, featuring dazzling Salem, MA, baker Elizabeth Tucker (her cupcakes drive men mad) and the seductive Diesel, first seen in Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books. Here she brings on multi-award-winning writer/producer/novelist Sutton to help. Each tale involves the search for an ancient relic mysteriously linked to one of the seven deadly sins—in this case, greed.

Wicked Charms by Janet Evanovich and Phoef Sutton is the third book is the Lizzy and Diesel series. I adored this book! Lizzy Tucker lives in Marblehead Harbor, Massachusetts and works as a baker for Dazzle’s Bakery. That is when she is not out saving the world with Diesel (just Diesel)! It turns out that Lizzy has two unique abilities. Lizzy has the ability to find the Saligia Stones. There are seven of the stones and they have only found two of them. Lizzy is touring the Pirate Museum with Glo (that’s her name) and Glo’s boyfriend, Josh (who talks like a pirate all the time). She touches a cage containing a peg leg pirate and it comes crashing to the ground. Turns out a real skeleton (with a peg leg) was in the cage. Lizzy gets to meet coroner, Theodore Nergal. Nergal is a very nice guy with a special ability of his own (he had never told anyone about his ability before and was glad to find other people with abilities). Turns out there an unusual coin in the peg leg. They will need to find all eight pieces (get it: pieces of eight). They need the full coin to read the map. They can then find the location of the latest stone (Blue Diamond of Babur). Lizzy and Diesel have to battle and outwit Wulf (Gerwulf Grimoire is his full name and is actually Diesel’s cousin) as well as Martin Ammon (a rich and powerful man). Along the way there will be a few hiccups (like Glo using her spell book incorrectly) and almost death incidents (Glo and Lizzy almost drown). Hopefully, good will persevere over evil in the end! I give Wicked Charms 5 out of 5 stars. I have not laughed so hard in a long time. Doozy, my dog, did not know what to make of my laughing at first. Then he got all excited and starting doing his little jack rabbit jumps all over my bed! There are some great lines and memorable characters (Steven Hatchet is a riot) in this book. I have not read any other books in this series, but I will definitely read them now. This is one of best books I have read in quite a while. I was hooked from the beginning and did not want this book to end. I received a complimentary copy of Wicked Charms from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The reviews and opinions expressed are my own.

Won't continue this series . ....too Ridiculous to read. What has happened to Janet, she is better than this.

Boring! Predictable! I am not one of the readers that get a free book, so I am not obligated to give a rave review. The story is plain dumb.

I am a HUGE Janet Evanovich fan! I just could not get into this series. I love the Stephanie Plus series, but just couldn't get into this one. I really wanted to like it.

The dialogue was ridiculous,in that every crisies was resolved with a wink and a grin. Tiresome dialog.

This is not worth the time or the money spent. 200 pages of ridiculous plot line. Janet used to be one of my very favorite authors and I would look forward to her new books. But this series and the by the numbers series have really gone down in terms of a quality read. Great characters in this series ... but the character development is just shallow and feels like it was written for a teen audience. I will no longer preorder any of the Evanovich novels ... I'll wait to see if other folks feel like the stories are being written in the 'old' Evanovich style.

I've been waiting a long time for the 3rd installment of the Wicked series and I've yet to be disappointed! I can't get enough!

I love the Janet Evanovich books. They are all fun, yet each series is very different. In this series, Lizzy Tucker is a baker in Salem. She has a couple of gifts, one is to bake magic cupcakes, the other is to sense the seven Saligia Stones. Along comes Deisel, who's job it is to recover the stones and destroy them so no one has their power. This is the third book in the series. In this story, Lizzy and Diesel are trying to recover the Avarice Stone (greed). Martin Ammon is also trying to recover the stone. He believes he is the Demon god Mammon. Of course Wulf, Diesel's cousin is also in the hunt. There is a treasure map that can only be read using a coin that has been cut up into 8 pieces. Once Lizzy and Diesel find all the pieces, they are able to begin the search for the Stone. AS well as the stone, there is a treasure worth millions of dollars at stake. While all this is going on, Lizzy and Diesel are developing a relationship that could result in one of them losing their powers. There is a lot of sexual innuendo and some murders along the way, but it is a fun read. As in any Janet Evanovich book, you have a cast of incredible supporting characters. Here we have Glo, a witch in training with Broom and a Magic 8-ball, Josh, a Buccaneer American, Martin Ammon, psycho eccentric billionaire with big delusions of owning the world and lots of others.  ARC provided by the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Wicked Charms,A Lizzy and Diesel Novel,  Janet Evanovich, Phoef Sutton Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews  Genre:  Mystery & Thrillers Well, if you’ve read books one and two you’ll know this isn’t a heart stopping, scary, hide head under cushions type thriller, but a slapstick type mystery to solve. Once again Lizzy and Diesel have paired up to find another  SAGLIA Stone, this time the one for greed. Its the same kind of comedic read, with Lizzy going from one drama to the next, getting into constant danger, and being rescued just in time. Cat takes a lesser role which I missed, I like him, but Carl also appears less and that's great, as to be honest his “Eeps” and “giving the finger” are getting boring and simply annoying. It was funny the first few times but but when it was mentioned for what seemed like the twentieth time just in the first book, the humour had long since worn off. Glo is in the thick of this adventure, accompanied by Broom – she’s scatty, and a great addition to the gang with her haphazard spells, and of course there’s Clara the bakery owner. I do wonder how they ever manage to make money as it seems secondary to helping Lizzy and Diesel at times.  The connection between Lizzy and Diesel is as hot as ever, he’s a jerk at times but does seem to genuinely feel something for Lizzy other than simply attraction, and they’ve worked a sneaky way round the “two unmentionables must not get together” edict!!  Its a fun read, light-hearted and very much like the first two. For devoted fans it’ll be a book to devour but though I enjoyed it there’s too much similarity to books one and two for me to give a higher star rating. Its well written but nothing new really jumping out at me, and if the search for the next four stones are like this then its one I’ll pass on even though I’ve enjoyed the humour of these first three stories.  Stars: Three, fun read but nothing new added from first two.  ARC supplied by Netgalley and publishers

Another Great Lizzy and Diesel Book! This is another great book; this is the third book in the Lizzy and Diesel series by Janet Evanovich and Phoef Sutton. Lizzy finds a mummified corpse that was murdered centuries ago. Lizzy and her partner Diesel are in search of the Stone of Avarice and it is connected to the coin that is found on the corpse who ends up bing the notorious bootlegger Collier “Peg Leg” Dazzle. The coin was cut into several pieced and holds the key to reading the treasure map, which will lead them to the Stone of Avarice. The stone is rumored to cause greed in the people who hold the stone. Lizzy and Diesel along with their friends and Carl the monkey are on the race to find the stone before Diesel’s cousin Wulf or the many others in search of the stone. This book is full of the wonderful characters from the other books that I love and had many laugh out loud moments. I can’t wait until the next book comes out.  A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Title: Wicked Charms - Lizzy & Diesel 3 Author: Janet Evanovich & Phoef Sutton Published: 6-23-2015 Publisher: Random House Publishing Group / Ballentine /Bantam Pages: 338 Genre: Mystery, Thrillers & Suspense Sub Genre: Humor ISBN: 9780553392715 ASIN: B00N6PD6SO Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley Rating: 4 Stars . This story centers around a treasure hunt for the pirate Collier "Peg Leg" Dazzle's treasure. A treasure someone is willing to kill for even Diesel's charming cousin Wulf, who would also like to discover Lizzy's treasure as well. Plenty of action and adventure. My rating is 4 out of 5. I will look to get the next book, but hope it returns to a more stable format that Evanovich's characters are known for. Janet Evanovich has always drawn me with her humorous writing style and Quirky characters. Unfortunately her characters seemed a little flat and disconnected in this book. I do not know if it was the influence of Phoef Sutton or Evanovich wants to take the series in another direction. The paranormal aspect of the book feels forced this time. Perhaps she was just having an hard time getting her characters to co-operate. I do not know how she goes about writing her books, but the authors I have spoken that even when they plot out the book, their characters often show them a different path to toke the story. Perhaps Evanovich or Sutton wasn't listening close enough.

Lizzie Turner is a young woman working at Dazzle’s Bakery, in Salem, making her delicious and magical cupcakes. She would love a quiet and uneventful life with her cat, Cat!, unfortunately her partner Diesel has other ideas. Diesel is a hunter, and he’s on the trail of a very famous pirate treasure. He needs Lizzie’s skills to help find the 8 pieces of a coin that will help lead them to the treasure. However, they aren’t the only ones after it. Factor in Diesel’s strange cousin Wulf, and his lapdog Hatchet, plus the eccentric super-rich, Mr. Ammon and his loyal servant Rutherford, and they have a fight on their hands to get there first. Oh, and I forgot to mention the Stone of Avarice and an ancient god/devil Mammon. ‘Wicked Charms’ is the first book that I have read in the Lizzie and Diesel Mystery series. Being the third book, I had obviously missed out on the back-story to the two main characters. At first I was baffled as to what was going on. Lizzie seemed on the outside to be a normal young woman, working at a bakery alongside her friend Clara, yet she has some mystical power in discovering items. Diesel came and went as he pleased and never seemed to stay still for more than two minutes. I was unsure as to whether he and Lizzie were an actual couple, why did Diesel have a very moody monkey called Carl, and who or what is Broom? As the book progressed, most of the above became clear, except for Carl, who I must say for a monkey can certainly hold his own in the book. The book is completely barmy! It’s hilarious, side-splittingly funny in parts. The characters are themselves wacky, and I loved each and every one of them. We have the crazy witch wannabe, Glo and her Broom. Josh, Glo’s pirate talking boyfriend. A coroner, Dr. Theodore Nergel, who can hear the last thoughts of the dead, plus a whole host of unusual secondary characters, who just make the story complete. The writing is superb. It has a natural flow to it and I felt drawn to every word. The pace throughout is fast and at times will take your breath away. I just couldn’t put this book down. I was bemused most of the way through, yet totally engrossed in the story from beginning to end. A fabulous novel that you must try, even if it is only to see how magnificent the writing actually is. Now all I have to do is go back and read the other two books in the series. Reviewed by Stacey at Whispering Stories Book Blog

I can describe this book in two words: funny and awesome. Janet Evanovich has written another fabulous book with the help of Phoef Sutton. To me whenever the book has both Diesel and Carl the Monkey in it the book is going to be funny. No one even knows what to except to happen whenever Carl is there since he is a monkey that most definitely is not normal. Cat has a small part in this edition but I always smile when reading the Cat moments. From the beginning to the end this book was just one funny and awesome adventure. A little bit crazy at times but that’s what happens when you mess with something that is enchanted with Greed. I do feel bad for Lizzy though I wonder if that poor girl is ever going to sell that cookbook of hers. This book was just a really good read and I am giving it five butterflies for a rating since it’s that outstanding. If anyone asks me about this book for a recommendation I would totally say to read it but only if you have read the first two books. Well if you haven’t read the first two books it wouldn’t matter since it’s still a good book and I’m pretty sure you don’t need to read the first two. However, you should read them because they are pretty fabulous too. Anyways until next time enjoy this book review brought to you by Baroness’ Book Trove.
