Teenage siblings with a dark secret find their lives complicated by the arrival of a mysterious girl. Zander and Van are tougher and heal faster than ordinary teenagers. However, the price is a terrible, mysterious hunger—a bloodlust that becomes intensified by specific individuals. Younger Van does her best to suppress it so she can have friends and a normal life; Zander instead keeps everyone at arm's length and warns Van that once her 16th birthday hits and her powers reach full strength, she should do so as well. Ivy, a new girl—cousin to one of Van's friends—puts everything at risk. Both Zander and Van hunger to hurt her, but Zander falls for her in a push-pull love story reminiscent of Twilight, right down to Zander's sneaking into Ivy's room to watch her sleep. Van, however—when she's not busy with a love triangle of her own, with a mysterious boy she's just met and her trusty best friend, Ketchup—is suspicious that certain things don't add up with Ivy. The narrative occasionally withholds too much for too long, moving from the dangling of intriguing tidbits into artificial and frustrating narrative territory. The conclusion, made strong by unraveling secrets and formula-shattering twists, sets up a sequel. The pairing of a formulaic start and formula-breaking ending makes the book ideal for paranormal-romance readers seeking a new spin on the familiar. (Paranormal romance. 13-17)

Meet the Author

DelSheree Gladden was one of those shy, quiet kids who spent more time reading than talking. Literally. She didn't speak a single word for the first three months of preschool, but she had already taught herself to read. Her fascination with reading led to many hours spent in the library and bookstores, and eventually to writing. She wrote her first novel when she was sixteen years old, but spent ten years rewriting and perfecting it before having it published.

Native to New Mexico, DelSheree and her husband spent several years in Colorado for college and work before moving back home to be near family again. Their two children love having their seventeen cousins close by. When not writing, you can find DelSheree reading, painting, sewing and trying not to get bitten by small children in her work as a dental hygienist. DelSheree is the author of the Escaping Fate Series, Twin Souls Saga, The Destroyer Trilogy, The Aerling Series, Someone Wicked This Way Comes Series, and Date Shark Series.

Just finished reading Wicked Hunger (Someone Wicked This Way Comes) by DelSheree Gladden last night and I absolutely loved it. When I first saw the title, two things came to mind. One was I have to read this book because anyone clever enough to work a Ray Bradbury hint into the title has to have written a story just as intriguing. Two, probably not as complementary but true none-the-less, was oh dear, will this be another Buffy, Angel, True Blood, Vampire Diaries spin off? Will I be thrust into teen-aged drama that’s being overdone? I was right on the first thought and wrong on the second, and I have never been so glad to be wrong. Gladden gave me an original story with twists and turns, provoking one burning question in my mind. “Who are these people?” I kept suspecting fangs to pop out and claws to extend hooking me deeper into the mystery of the curse, but what I found was something even more terrifying, hunger. The author has masterfully taken this one gnawing need and wickedly turned it around on the characters so that it is the weapon and it is the greatest thing to be feared. So much so, that I kept wondering if I should root for the hunter or the hunted. Who are the good guys? Who are the bad? Is this how the life of a serial killer begins? I was drowning in a sea of chaos and loving every minute of it. And in the end, what I’d found, was that I was the one hungry for more.

This was the first book I'd read by this author, so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I didn't expect was for this book to be so difficult to put down, and then when I did it consumed my thoughts and made me HAVE to pick it up again! I loved every aspect of this book. I felt for the main characters who were struggling to fight their hunger and find some semblance of a normal life. I loved the characters, and truly wanted them to find happiness with the people they loved. The ending--don't worry I won't spoil it for you--cinched this book for me. It had a twist that, while surprising, seemed so right for this novel. I really look forward to book 2!

WOW!!! Give me a book where danger, death and romance are so intertwined and you will hook me every time. Without giving away any spoilers although there are some plotlines that I was albe to figure out early on overall this book does NOT go where you expect it to and the ride is just fantastic. I read this cover to cover in one sitting because I had to see what was going to happen. Definitely one of the darker YA books that I have read but maybe that was why it worked so well for me. The characters are vibrant and well described and you feel that you are suffering with them but it feels really good. As a debut offering this book knocks it out the park and I cannot wait to see where to story goes in book 2. V""V

I'm a 49 yo Nurse and I gotta say, I enjoyed this book. It held my interest the entire time. I had to read it in spurts due to my schedule but I was able to pick it back up without difficulty. I was glad to finally have a name for their "condition." Just purchased the 2nd book in this series....hope it's just as entertaining.

Van, Zander and Oscar are siblings who all suffers from a curse, hunger. They have to fight their hunger all the time and certain people can set it off. When the new girl Ivy starts at their school she sets both Van’s and Zander’s hunger off, which is unheard of for them both to react to the same person. Zander is unable to stay away from Ivy and has to fight his raging hunger around her constantly. Can he control it or will his hunger control him? Do you ever compare books to others you’ve read? The majority of the time I don’t but I did with Wicked Hunger, I couldn’t stop myself. Twilight was my comparison. New girl starts school, boy is drawn to her, he can hurt her but can’t stop himself from being around her. His family warn him off but he ignores them. Ring a bell? God, it annoyed the living day lights out of me :( I really wanted to love Wicked Hunger, the synopsis really grabbed my attention but unfortunately it just wasn’t meant to be. I did enjoy it I guess but it wasn’t anything special for me. I found myself taking long breaks from reading and when I did pick it back up it took me a while to get back into the story. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters, not one. Van wasn’t too bad as she stuck by her brother and was determined to save him even if he wasn’t willing to save himself, she didn’t give up on him which I admired. Zander was a selfish ass who really irritated me, I mean he forces Van to choose him over someone she’s loved since kindergarten but is unwilling to do the same for her with someone he’s only just met? But I did enjoy the ending. And not because it meant I was done, I was shocked when I finished it and wanted to keep reading. I didn’t expect it at all and now I’m dying to know what they’re going to do. Will it help or make it worse? Is he really there to help or has he got an ulterior motive? Argghhhh……I hate a book leaving me with questions. Whether or not I’ll read the next book to get answers who knows, we shall see. *A copy was provided for review purposes*

I cant even fathom how much I enjoyed this book or rather this author. Ive read her book Twin Souls and was instantly captured. I then started to go through her books and found a few free ones that start a series. And I havent been disappointed. I highly recommend this and all her other books to you.
