Now we get to see the inner workings of the big guy and what makes him tick. Some things from his past must be settled before he can look to the future, a future that has just turned much brighter.
Elsa Bjornberg’s life is about to change when her TV show gets a call to remodel a house in the Adirondack Mountains. Something is calling to her the further they get into the forest. Almost like she belongs there. And when she meets the handsome man who is actually taller than she is….all seems good. That is until his touch ignites something in her and not in a good way.
Kerrelyn also gives us a look inside Shanna’s head. She has been a vampire for three months now and we see her struggles as a mother who dies each day and has no control when it comes to protecting her children during those hours. This book has some very unique incidents that are so different from any of her other books. Once again showing the authors unique abilities in writing an intriguing story that holds the readers attention from beginning to end.

We find our why in Wild About You. Rhett Bleddyn like Howard is from Alaska. We learn right away that twenty years ago, on the night of the senior prom, Rhett was responsible for the death of Howard’s first love and during the ensuing fight it was believed that Howard killed Rhett. Howard was then banished from Alaska. Now Howard knows that Rhett didn’t die that night and Howard wants Rhett to pay for what he has done.
While Howard is away, Tino Draganesti lets out a secret to his mother which involves Howard’s dream girl. After a little snooping, Shanna learns that Howard’s dream girl is Elsa Bjornberg a/k/a Amazon Ellie from International Home Wreckers. Shanna has been unhappy about having to leave her White Plains home and move to the Dragon Nest Academy. So she decides to kill two birds with one stone and she invites Elsa and her team to renovate the carriage house on the grounds of the Academy.
When Howard returns from Alaska, he is not happy with Shanna’s meddling, but he won’t turn down the opportunity to get to know Elsa in person and see if she is the same person he has fallen for in his dreams.
Elsa has never felt dainty and feminine until she meets Hot, Hunky, Handsome Howard Barr. She realizes why Howard is so big when she sees him change into a grizzly bear. Howard will have his work cut out for him trying to convince Elsa that he is really a teddy bear at heart.
Elsa is very excited to work with Howard until she begins having dreams right after meeting Howard that are too like the stories that her aunts used to tell her about a family curse. What is worse is that soon Howard realizes that the curse sounds too much like the curse his grandfather tells stories about and both legends end the same—with the beast killing his lover.
Do they have to toss away the greatest love either has known? Neither want to believe that a curse can tear them apart, but should Elsa and Howard resist their feelings for Elsa’s safety or fight together against the dangers facing them?
Kerrelyn Sparks works her magic again. This time for sweet and cuddly Howard Barr. Howard has been around since the first books, always in the background, always as someone the group can depend on and we start to see Howard emerge from the background in Sexiest Vampire Alive when Howard goes with Gregori and Abby on their mission.

I absolutely loved Howards story. All the suspense and trouble he had to go through to be with Elsa. It was a wonderful story...if u love this series then you will enjoy this book too!

I have read all of her books and she never ceases to amaze me.
Who would have thought that the name Howard could be so sexy?

I am absolutely wild about Wild About You by Kerrelyn Sparks!! This book is hot, humorous and impossible to put down!
First of all, I have to comment on the cover: love love love it! It is eye-catching, hot, steamy and portrays the story perfectly. Howard’s eyes beckon, call and ache for you to pick up the book and indulge within the sinfully delicious tale within. You will not be disappointed!
Wild About You is the 13th book in the “Love At Stake” series. These books, however, can be read in any order at any time. I can say this with absolute certainty because I have yet to read them all. The first book by Ms. Sparks that I ever read was Eat Prey Love (#9 in the series) and I never felt as though I was missing out on an important chunk of the story line. Wild About You is no different. Each book centers on a specific character and tells their story. Previous characters do make appearances throughout, but you do not need to know their back story to get the full effect of the story.
With that in mind, Wild About You is Howard’s story. Howard is a were-bear with a few dark demons in his closet. He works as head of security at the top-secret school, Dragon Nest Academy and has always led a solitary life. Howard is kind, intelligent, loyal and smokin hot. Howard also has to deal with a long standing curse cast upon his heritage long ago – a curse that he does not believe in until it is thrust right in his face.
Elsa is the star of a popular home improvement/renovation series called International Home Wreckers. Elsa also has had to learn to live with her larger-than-ordinary size (she thinks of herself in this way: Yes, I’m freakishly large. I’m so tall I occasionally suffer from altitude sickness.). Born with a wicked birthmark upon her shoulder, shaped like a bear claw, Elsa has also been warned of a curse that has long effected her family. A curse that could mean her death and a curse that Elsa believes to be nonsense – that is until it is thrust right in front of her face.
A connection? Oh yes. When a delightful matchmaker brings Harold and Elsa together, Elsa feels the burn – literally, and the heat of chemistry and an unnerving and undeniable pull springs forth the moment their eyes meet. There is, of course the self-denial and the “try to resist” routine, however they are written in a delightful and provocative way that had me glued to the pages.
Full of heated romance, well-developed and vivid characters, Wild About You had me hooked from the first chapter. I don’t know if it was the flow of the story, the characters, the story line, plot or a combination of all of those things that had me zipping through the pages and unable to put the book down. Harold is amazing. He is so incredibly sweet, kind, considerate, hot, sizzling, loyal, alpha and just male perfection rolled into a nifty and smoking package that would make any woman swoon. Howard suffers from the loss of many loved ones and “regret” seems to be a constant in his life. This will definitely bring out the nurturing side of the reader. Elsa is a kind, strong, ambitious and likable character that will leave the reader yearning for her to find happiness. These are a few of the things that I found myself feeling as I read. I also found myself sighing in romantic bliss, giggling at the humor, tearing at the pain and joyful at the happiness. Yes, tons of emotions but for me this is what makes a great read. I loved being drawn so tightly into Harold and Elsa’s story and I cannot wait to see what character gets their own story next. I also look forward to visiting these two characters in future stories to see how they are getting along.
Kerrelyn Sparks is such a magnificent paranormal author. She has the talent to spin tales of romance and supernatural with characters that are real and connectable, as well as adding liberal doses of suspense and/or life altering problems to overcome. Her stories remain in my mind and heart long after I have finished reading them and leave me anxious for more. For lovers of paranormal, shape shifting, romance and just plain excellent stories, I highly recommend Wild About You by Kerrelyn Sparks! It is definitely one that has been added to my “keeper” shelf and one that I will recommend to all!

Every book in this series becomes my new favorite... this one bing no different. I know a were-bear sounds weird. But, Howard has become this big Honey Bear... that you want to hear his journey to finding his love. LOVED, LOVED This book!
Perfect Woman for him! !2 books of hearing bits & pieces of him... Defiantly worth the wait!

So loved this one, for some reason this story had a different feel then the rest of the stories..could be because it had been a while. Enjoyed the flow of the writing style. Who would have thought a berserker, had humor and sexy arrogance. Howard and Ellie was perfect for each other and because of their love for each other the curse finally done. Rhett was one evil ?&!
It was great to spend some time with Tino, he captured me the moment he was born.

I will admit I am a total fan of the Love at Stake series by Kerrelyn Sparks. So when I saw that she had a new book coming out and it was going to be about Howard the bear shifter, I squealed! I just loved Howard and I knew his story would be a good one!
I was right! It is a sweet and quirky story that makes for such an enjoyable read. There were a couple of slow spots but overall the plot was very interesting and entertaining. I really love Howard and was so happy we could get to know more about him and where he came from. Elsa, I think, really rocked as a heroine. There was just something about her I really liked.
While Wild About You is not my favorite book in this series, it is still a wonderful addition. Over all it is a fun shifter romance that has a great plot and even more interesting characters. It is a fast read and could be read as a standalone. I do recommend reading the rest of the Love At Stake series just because they are all good paranormal romance stories.

I have loved this series from the first book I read in the series. I started in the middle and had to go out and get the others. Kerrelyn does not disappoint with this recent addition to the series.

I love this series. Kerrelyn Sparks writes with the same sarcastic attitude that I have. She even makes me laugh out loud through out the book.

Loved it from page 1. Couldnt put it down! Loved the anxiety caused by "the curse". Of course it all works out but still what a journey to get there!

Sparks does it AGAIN!! I've read all her novels and novellas and Howard was ALWAYS my favorite! Who knew he had a secret crush on an HGTV renovator... Let the intrigue and hot sexiness begin. Oh and did I mention a curse that needs to solved?

I found this series a few weeks ago. I read a novella and I literally loved it. I ended up buying all the e-books in this series (Love at Stakes) and I just fell in love with all the characters and their mortal partners. I was never a vampire book reader until lately and Ms. Sparks has made me realize what truly funny and remarkably sexy these guys area. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
