BACHELOR PARTIES WERE the worst. Stella Krane couldn’t understand why guys needed a wedding in order to go to a bar, drink their asses off, flirt with strangers, and talk about it for the rest of their lives. Remember when…? It was like a rite of passage for uptight businessmen. Real men took it to a hotel room, hired strippers, and fucked the hell out of them in ways their pretty little wives wouldn’t ever let them. She cringed at the thought. She wouldn’t want a man who did that. God, what was going on with her?

There was a time when Stella had dreamed of being someone’s pretty little wife, but that was before Carl Kutcher. Her gut twisted with the realization that he was getting out of jail in four days. The man had stolen every dream she’d ever had—and who knew when he’d steal her life. She no longer held on to the fantasy of a doting husband, a few kids, and a white picket fence. Now she was just happy to be alive.

“Hey, sweetheart, how about a little sugar with my drink?” drunken asshole number six asked as he leaned over the bar. He was with the bachelor party and had been drinking for the past few hours. Five guys with wedding rings pawing, groping, leering, making lewd comments, and trying their best to live out a stilted fantasy.

Stella eyed his wedding ring. Damn, she needed to get off tonight—and she wasn’t thinking about getting off work. It’d been too many months since she’d gotten laid, and she’d had it up to here watching everyone else play out their dirty fantasies. She longed for the feel of a man’s hands on her ass while his cock drove hard and deep inside her, allowing her brain to escape reality for a while. Stella wasn’t really a one-night-fuck type of girl—but right then, boy did she wish she were. She missed the feel of a hard chest pressing against her and the deep, naughty whispers of a man telling her how much he wanted her. She’d never been that down-and-dirty girl until Kutcher. He’d sparked a side of her that she hadn’t known existed, a dangerous, rebellious side that turned her on in ways she never imagined possible. But that was before things went bad and Kutcher showed his true colors. The bastard. She refused to even think of him as Carl anymore. Now he was just Kutcher. Kutcher had taught her many things, like that men pretty much suck. They lie, cheat, and sometimes…they beat the hell out of you.

She narrowed her catlike green eyes at the mildly attractive, dark-haired sure thing before her and practically purred, “How about I get you another drink and you go home and fuck your wife’s sugar-coated pussy?”

Jaw slack—check. Eyes wide—check. Oh, look, a bonus. Mr. I Want Some Sugar backed away from the bar.

Some days she felt like a babysitter and a whore at once, but hey, working at a bar in New York City might not be like running her own interior design business in Mystic, Connecticut, but it kept her alive. She missed Mystic. She missed the harbor, the safety of the small town, her friends. She missed her mother most of all. Her mother was battling cancer, but like everything else in her life, she’d had to sever all ties with her mother in order to keep her safe from Kutcher.

Stella had lived in Mystic her whole life. Until Kutcher. Fucking Kutcher. Slick-tongued, hard-bodied, and unfortunately, hard-fisted Kutcher. She’d dated him for only a few months before he showed his true colors. His possessiveness knew no boundaries, and she’d barely escaped with her life. No, this might not be Mystic, and she might have had to leave everything she knew and loved behind, but at least she’d survived—even if she had to spend the rest of her life pretending to be someone she wasn’t.

Enjoyed this. Quick read but enjoyable. The overview indicated erotica so I'm not sure why there are complaints. Will just have to give extra startocounter the haters.

Good story and characters, another entertaining author found! About 140 pages, that were well edited and never lost my interest! Highly recommend!

Stella is running/hiding from an abusive ex-boyfriend when she meets Logan in the bar she is working at. Logan, attracted to her as soon as he sets eyes on her, saves her from an assault and pretty much injects himself into her life. He is determined to help her get her life back, and in the end she helps him get his heart back. I suggest turning up your air conditioning because Melissa Foster is bringing the heat with this one. I loved it so much, I read it straight through, immediately bought the second book, and as soon as I finish this review (I should have cooled down by that time), I fully intend to settle in and enjoy Heath's story (ice tea is optional).

My review: Oh my.....Melissa......you naughty little lady! I LOVE IT! I've been so excited to read these books but didn't get a chance with everything going on in my world. It was FANTASTIC getting lost in this book! This is a series that is a little more "adult" than the usual....but if you're a Melissa Foster fan you'll love it. In this book we meet our Wild Boy Private Investigator, Logan. *sigh* Logan. He gets the wind knocked out of his sails by a strong and independent woman when he meets Stormy. You're going to have to read this one to see what happens.....but it's definitely something hot to warm you up on these cold winter nights!!!! This is part of a book series and I HIGHLY suggest reading them ALL!!!!!

4.5 star I was pulled right into this short story. The story has laughs, secrets, fear, and heartbreak. This is Stormy and Logan’s story. Stormy is one the run and trying to hide out from an ex. When Logan protects her from an attack they fall into a sort of relationship. But Stormy has secrets. Someone is coming for her and she needs to cut all ties in order to protect those she cares about. Can Logan get her to trust he will protect her? Or will she run from him no matter what in the hopes of protecting him? I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book.

Oh. My. Goodness. That was craziness! I read someone’s review last week (well, only the first sentence because I didn’t want a spoiler) and it had said it was the most emotional read they had read all year. Now, I have read Melissa Foster books in the past and couldn’t reconcile “most emotional read of the year” with Melissa. Melissa’s books are hot and steamy. Anger and love, of course. But most emotional? I was proven wrong. I felt anger. I felt love. I felt happy. I felt sad. I felt anxious. I felt giddy with excitement. My poor Stormy. She is definitely someone I would befriend and protect to the bitter end. Her situation. Ugh. Just the thoughts of it stirs up emotions. Logan is your typical hot, steamy, absolute sweetheart of a gentlemen like all the other Melissa Foster men, but he has baggage too. Baggage that makes your heart hurt for him and just want to comfort him. I thoroughly enjoyed book one, Logan, and cannot wait to finish book two, Heath!

I am WILD about the Wild Boys After Dark series! I think Logan will be my favorite Wild boy! He is smart, alpha, sexy, and knows what he wants when he sees it and what he sees is Stormy! Logan has a secret, one that is eating him alive, and unless he deals with that secret properly it could destroy any relationship he has. Stormy has quite a secret too, one that could hurt those around her. Can these two get through all the secrets and have their HEA? I sure hope so, this is one hot couple who can burn up the sheets together! Logan has intrigue, mystery, & lots of action both in the bedroom and out of it!

Awesome beginning to a new series! While this is hotter than other Melissa Foster books, it still has plenty of emotion and characters that pull you in and don't let go and has a great balance between romance and suspense. Stella is running for her life and the last thing she needs is to get involved with a man, especially a PI. But when Logan stops an assault on Stella, she feel safe for the first time in a long time. Logan is dealing with his own demons and guilt surrounding the the man who killed his father and left his mother blind. His protective instinct kicks in with Stella and he does everything in his power to make sure that she can stop running. As Logan helps Stella break free from her past, Stella helps Logan deal with his guilt. What starts out as chemistry between them turns into love. The other three Wild Brothers are introduced and I can't wait for their stories! 4.5 stars I received an ARC for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.

ARC kindly provided by Melissa Foster via Brook Cottage Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. Review A Note to Readers about ‘Logan’: Melissa’s fans have been asking for a darker, sexier version of The Bradens, and she’s proud to bring you the Wild Boys and the Bad Boys in the new After Dark series. The After Dark series is written in the same raw, emotional voice as The Bradens and her other romance series. However, please be warned that the language in the After Dark books is naughtier than in her other novels, and the heat level has amped up a bit. She hopes you enjoy them as much as she enjoy writing them. This is my first book by Melissa Foster and I have to say that I was pretty excited! I had dug through ALL her written novels and decided I was her NEW BIGGEST FAN! (There was sooooooooooooo many of them! When does she get the time, much less the inspiration and dedication? And they all sound so marvellous! Argh! I want to be her in the future! Better yet, be her advanced reader! Too many thoughts going on! My heads about to explode!) My first impressions: The book and the whole series I were thought out. Straight away I saw realistic (although somewhat traumatised) characters who had problems and baggage with them, yet they were willing to get back up and to make the most of their lives in order to survive. The characters had lives and we saw this because there were great supporting characters who we knew meant a lot to them. We see elder brothers and friends who we know will appear later on in the series due to, first and foremost, their last names: "Wild" and "Bad". ‘Logan’ drew me in right from the start due to its unusual beginning. It was very down to earth and opinionated as it started off with Stormy's (or Stella's) point of view which we realise is very harsh and probably traumatised. The novel switches between the point-of-view of two main characters: Stormy and Logan. It is written in third person and narrated by them. I enjoyed this as it let me see the story through different eyes. The novel was also quite short and an easy read. But don’t let that put you off. It was also intense; emotional; strong; overpowering; touching; heartfelt; and heart-wrenching. Now there was LOTS of love scenes, but don't get me wrong, this book was not only about that; it was also about romance and LURVE! It had a tough and a sort of depressing beginning to it, but as you got further in, warm fuzziness started to happen. It was a nice contrast to the beginning and it let the happiness to shine through the doom and gloom. It let me connect with Stella and Logan, which I always think is important. I also felt as if the style in which the author wrote was different in the first third of the book compared to the next two thirds. I know this different and raw style is one that the author hasn't written in yet, so I believe the author reverted to her past style I those two thirds. In my opinion, I enjoyed the style she wrote in in the last two-thirds MORE compared to the style in the first-third but together those two styles were awesome and made a great book! No grammatical mistakes or spelling and typing errors in this novel which was lovely to see – it made it a pleasure to read. It was a lovely story and *SPOILER* had a HEA (Happily-Ever-After) which was REALLY SATISFYING. It made me feel so HAPPY in the end! Congratulations to Melissa Foster! I can’t wait for more!

I loved that book right from the beginning! But first things first... Stella is a brave, strong young woman who has suffered a tortured past! Her ex-boyfriend, except for beating her and eventually making her afraid of the male species in general, is also stalking her. She is unable to use her credit cards, or even go to the hospital if the need arises, in fear of him tracking her down and forcing her into things she is not willing to endure anymore! Logan Wild is an elusive private detective that has also been through his own hardships! When he sets his eyes on Stella, something attracts him in a very deep and primal level. While, she feels an attraction for him, too, Stella is also intimidated by the way he looks at her. When a customer attacks her, though, Logan is the one to save her. From then on, the story takes another turn as they instinctively deepen their relationship slowly and gradually. Even if at first Stella introduces herself to Logan as Stormy Knight, the secrets she has hidden for quite some time, and the threat her ex-boyfriend poses, will soon start being revealed. While reading this book, I loved the fact that the author chose to write about such a sensitive subject of domestic, psychological and physical violence and the way it might affect the people involved. Stella was a very well-built character with a personality that had been evolved through the hardships she had endured. She often found herself torn between the person she became after the abuse she received from her ex-boyfriend and the one she was before that. She is also a deeply traumatized, young woman, afraid to get too close to a man, in fear of him starting to show similar behavior of extreme possessiveness and violence. I also loved Logan and the way he thought both generally, and about Stella, too. He was willing to be gentle with her and became really protective of her, acting on instinct, a fact I deeply adored about him. He insisted in making her relax and trust him first, willing to help her subside her fears. Finally, another thing I loved about this book, aside from the wonderful characters and the very natural writing style of the author, was the way Stella and Logan's relationship grew and evolved, with them getting to know each other gradually, carefully and delicately, and in turns confiding to each other. All in all, 5 stars for an amazing, deep read, with complex characters and tough subjects being brought up!

Private Investigator, ex Navy Seal (hunk) Logan meets barmaid Stella (I prefer Stormy) in a bar in NYC while she is running from her past .. will Logan be the one to save her in true hero tradition. Stormy is tired of being the centre of male attention, she is carrying a lot of issues so will a relationship develop .. she is attracted to him but is tough & used to being treated badly. Her violent ex is her main concern .. will he track her down…. Logan shows a softer, caring side & it brings a good balance to this steamy novel. Can he protect Stormy from the past that threatens to catch up with her. This is definitely not for the faint-hearted reader there is plenty of sizzle & sex involved .. this is the first in the ‘Wild Boys After Dark’ series & I will be reading the next one about Heath shortly. Thanks to the author & Brook Cottage Books for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.

Melissa Foster is one of my favorite authors. I love the characters she has developed and the story lines draw me in so it is no wonder I almost immediately fell in love with Logan and his brothers in this series. With this book that moves at as fast a pace as the city it is set in, Melissa Foster has another great series started. Stella, or Stormy as many know her, is running from her past. Logan is a private investigator who wants to find out what she is hiding. He discovers who she really is and wants to protect her from her past. She’s not sure who she can trust but trust Logan she does. As the story evolves, Logan and Stormy become closer and I am dying to tell you what happens but won’t do that to you. Not only do I love the pace of the novel, the sneak peek at Logan’s brother Heath has me waiting for the next book.

Logan's great at finding. Stormy's great at hiding. The challenge isn't trying to figure out how to stay hidden or figure out what is hidden. For Stormy, the challenge is learning to trust Logan with her secret and that he will, indeed, keep her safe. For Logan, it's gaining Stormy's trust and proving he's man enough to care, love, and protect her. For as short as a story as this is, Ms. Foster did an admirable job of presenting that challenge. She made the attraction between Logan and Stormy real, made Stormy's hesitation of letting Logan in understandable, made Logan's approach toward her believable. The push and pull for more, the give and take of information, created an environment for love to happen. But it happened almost instantly. That took me aback. I know why though. The books I've read by Ms. Foster are much, much longer. Love doesn't happen overnight or in a matter of days. Love might've happened before for the couple and they're rediscovering it. Or love grows between a couple after spending copious amounts of time together. This is what I'm used to reading from Ms. Foster. I'm used to slow and steady, not quick and ready. That doesn't, however, deter from this story's ability to entertain and engage me. I like the attraction, the lust, the dirty talk. The grittiness of this story is a bit of a surprise but the tender moments between Logan and Stormy are the highlights for me. This is a good opening story for this series. The characters are solid and diverse. Their lives interwoven by friendship and work. One shining aspect is the Wild family's devotion to each other and the ones they love. They work hard, play harder, and love wholeheartedly. That blend is enticing enough for this reader. I hope it's just as alluring for the women coming into the Wild Boys' lives. 3.5* (Received from Tasty Book Tours for an honest review)
