Because our family is hunters, I am always looking for new ways to prepare venison and wild game. I have a few venison cookbooks and this one is by far the BEST! It has a sections on Traditional Style Stew Recipes, like Venison Meat Soup, Hunter Stew, Swiss Venison, Venison Chili, Venison Goulash...ect, all the easy normal recipes you could want. Plus a section on just stewing Venison and wild game, from steaks to hamburgers. A Cock Pot Section if that is how you like to cook venison. An Italian Style section, which is my favorite, a section on Southern Style and more. It has recipes for any and every cut of wild game you might want to cook. Plus recipes for fish, and different types of fowl. The recipes directions are easy to read and follow mostly rather easy recipes. I will admit that the format is a bit odd, and took me some getting used to. But other then that, I have made a bunch of recipes already and loved them all. Unlike other cookbooks where, you might only like a few recipes in the whole book, almost all the recipes are keepers. This is the best Wild game cookbook. If you are looking at a couple of different cookbooks and are unsure which one to get, get this one!! You will love it. I have already bought more for gifts, so people will stop using ours. Deer hunting season continues a perennially popular time to harvest meat for the family table. Now the family / Camp chef can have access to a veritable compendium of 'kitchen cook friendly', delicious and nutritious recipes specifically designed for bringing wild game meat to the menu. A good thing too! An average deer can be butchered to provide up to seventy pounds of venison and even the most avid meat-eater can grow tired of just sitting down to venison burgers and steaks. But if it’s burger you like Cousin Rick’s Deer Burger Cookbook is also a MUST HAVE. The recipes in this book are nicely organized collection of tips and recipes showcases dishes ranging from Deer to Duck and everything in between. A total wild game cookbook with Soups and stews as the guide. Easy Louisiana Venison Creole; and A Duck Hunter's Stew at is world class. A very highly recommended addition to any family cookbook shelf or community library collection! If you know a hunter or if you are the game master this wonderful book is for you.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. It was at our hunting loudge when the talk of Cousin Rick's new book on wild game soups and stews would be out in a coupel of months. All 8 of us made it a point to try and out do each other on who would be the first to get it in the mail. We also talked to our store manager at our Barnes and Noble in Sierra Vista, AZ. I was the first to get this Grizzly of a cookbook. The book is fun filled with mouthwatering wild game stews and soups I can't wait to harvest for game to try them all. My first meal using this book was Cousin Rick's 'Hook, Line, and Sinker' Stew. This stew uses Walleye fillets and scallops as the main ingredients. When finished, this tasty stew was far better than any stew that has ever crossed our taste-buds. This is a very fun and easy to follow cookbook. Was this review helpful?
