The thrilling ninth installment in Walker’s Black Knights Inc. contemporary series (after Too Hard to Handle) is her best yet. Ethan “Ozzie” Sykes is a computer whiz, a member of a custom motorcycle business, and a rock-solid special ops expert whose difficult childhood left him doubting anyone could ever love him. Determined journalist Samantha Tate is a tough investigative reporter for the Chicago Tribune; deep down she’s a damaged little girl looking to avenge her father’s murder. Ozzie and Samantha spend years trying to ignore their attraction to each other until it bursts into a flame neither of them can ignore. But their happily-ever-after is far from assured when a rival motorcycle gang decides that Samantha knows too much about their inner workings to live. Ozzie tries to keep her safe and protect his heart, but risks abound. Walker writes super-sexy alpha heroes and feisty heroines whom readers will cheer for. This razor-sharp, sensual, and intriguing tale will get hearts pounding. Agent: Nicole Resciniti, Seymour Agency. (Apr.)

A wounded covert operative who, along with his colleagues, uses a custom motorcycle shop as a cover falls in love with a reporter who's convinced he's up to no good just as she gets on the wrong side of some true villains. From the first time she laid eyes on him, investigative journalist Samantha Tate knows Ethan "Ozzie" Sykes is a seductive bad boy, and she's "a total sucker for a bad boy." But after years of trying to get a story on the enigmatic Black Knights Inc. to no avail, while becoming friends with the gorgeous Ozzie, she suddenly has an insider tip that a Chicago bike gang is running guns, and when she adds two and two and gets five, she's convinced it's BKI. Stunned and frightened, she misinterprets an attempted attack on her as Ozzie trying to attack, failing to realize that he's trying to save her. But once they untangle that misunderstanding it becomes clear that someone truly is after her, and Ozzie and his friends decide to protect her, despite her threat to their undercover operations. For Ozzie the whole situation is one major problem, since he's been falling in love with her for years but won't risk his friends' safety by getting involved with a reporter. Mix in his new insecurity due to a recent injury that impedes his effectiveness along with some long-held abandonment issues, and Ozzie has more than his fair share of internal conflicts, and his determination to keep Samantha at arms' length is both confusing and wrenching for her. Walker's hugely popular Black Knights series continues with sexy bad boy and secret geek Ozzie; brave, intrepid Samantha; and their high-stakes romance set against a fast-paced, action-packed mystery. A supporting cast that adds authenticity and texture to the story and an intricate plot that creates sexual tension and believable menace keep the reader invested and the pages turning.A high-octane romantic suspense novel with heart-pounding intrigue and a heart-twisting love story.

Loved the humor but missed the rest of the crew. I'm no prude but did get tired of skipping pages and pages of sex. The ending was silly and Ms. Walker should be ashamed of herself, gummy bears, really?

Wow. Just wow. I absolutely l loved Ozzie and Samantha’s story! Wild Ride by Julie Ann Walker gives us everything the title states. Emotional highs and lows, drama, suspense, action, despair, and joy. All of those things are packaged into a story that will grip you from the first page all the way until you close the book. Since I am not able to read a book in one sitting, every night when I had the opportunity to sit and read I couldn’t wait. I would rush through the daily things that had to be done in order to spend time with Ozzie and Samantha. I love that in a book! I have read the first four books in the series and then jumped to this one (#9) and realize there is probably a lot more Ozzie I missed in past books that I can’t wait to go back and read about. He is a geeky, 80’s loving, hottie who has the biggest heart I have seen from a hero in a long time. Samantha knows how good Ozzie is and miscommunication and assumptions are what take their relationship on a rocky ride from friends to lovers to something else. Walker did a phenomenal job with the flirting and love scenes between Ozzie and Samantha. The feelings and descriptions of the scenes were so passionate and the interruptions comical. The ending of book as it related to Ozzie and Samantha was absolutely perfect. Walker writes a wicked good suspense story. The villains are crazy evil, elevating the reader’s heartbeat quite a bit, and the action scenes are done so well that it is easy to picture it play out. The addition of previous and future characters of the series are always a nice addition and they are why I like to read a series. The only hesitation I have with Wild Ride is that while I am looking forward to Christian and Emily’s story (we are treated to their feelings for one another in this one), I am not sure I will be able to handle their buildup and courtship. They both annoyed the way they talked to one another. I was sort of hoping their relationship was wrapped up at the end of this one because of that. That is the first time I have felt like that with any of the characters in this series, so it surprised me. Wild Ride is a fantastic romantic suspense story. Whether you have read all of the other Black Knights books by Walker or are looking to start, give this one a read. It can be read as a stand alone and is very hard to put down. While your heart will be racing many times during the story, it will also be filled with joy at the end.

Long-Awaited. Lacked the Exotic Flair, but Fit the Situation. > > Judging a Book by it's Cover > Looking Deeper Third-Person This book had a emptier feel due to the lack of cast members from BKI. It also did not feel as vibrant and action-packed. Setting stays in Chicago. BKI is working with a skeleton crew at home base when the bane of their existence for the past half-dozen years, Chicago Tribute investigative reporter, Samantha Tate, finds herself in a potentially deadly situation. Ozzie's relationship with Samantha is low-key, at best, but the feelings that are developing for the smart and sexy reporter make him protective of her and when her safety is gravely compromised, he takes it upon himself to keep her in one piece. For the first time since the bombing (see FULL THROTTLE [BKI #7] ), grief, doubt, pity, and self-loathing are not fighting to consume him. Their chemistry and interactions are mostly enjoyable and entertaining. Secondary cast consist of a handful of the BKI members (mostly wives), Samantha's co-workers, a gang, an MC, and a few law enforcement officers. The dialogue and writing was on-point for this series and author. The flow was super smooth. There were plenty of dynamics and conflicts along the way. Most everything was resolved before the end. No big surprises nor blatant predictability. The conclusion is wrapped up pretty well, however I am now concerned that Ozzie's repairs may be degrading - which is scary and worrisome. Overall, fans of Romantic Suspense will be pleased with this addition to the series, but more likely not overjoyed. While it fit the current pace that Ozzie's at, we tend to expect a faster-paced, more action filled story set in exotic or remote locales. But, that said, it is NOT a disappointment, and I think you'll agree that Emily and Christian really try to steal some scenes *big, hopeful grin* . Wild Ride continues to be one of my favorite series. Julie Ann Walker has this great ability to create fun, exciting, and courageous characters. The members of Black Knights, Inc. are nothing like members of any other team. Nor should they be considering that they use a motorcycle shop as a cover for an elite covert unit that operates under the direction of the President of the United States. In this book, we focus on team member Ethan “Ozzie” Sykes who has been sidelined while recovering from a leg injury that occurred during a bombing. More importantly, over the past six years, Ozzie has been in charge of keeping a nosy investigative reporter named Samantha Tate from finding out what they really do at the motorcycle shop. Consequently, Ozzie has been feeding her false information and spending a lot of time with her to the extent that they have become good friends. As is usually the case, Ozzie’s deception eventually comes back to bite him when Samantha mistakenly believes that Ozzie and the Black Knights have something to do with the death of her informant. Attempts on Samantha’s life force Ozzie into action to protect her while at the same time trying not to blow his own cover and that of his teammates. The close proximity makes it difficult for either of them to hide their sexual attraction to each other so they end up between the sheets and can’t get enough of each other. The only problem is that they both are interested in pursuing a relationship although neither of them believes the other is interested in anything long term. This allows for us to see the chinks in Ozzie’s armor and recognize that his prior history of losing people has made it hard for him to feel he is worthy of love. On the other hand, Samantha appears to have her blinders on when it comes to Ozzie so she reads him all wrong. There is another factor in Wild Ride and series that I found to be the most appealing. It’s the members of the Black Knights and their significant others. They represent a really great team and are the epitome of a true family. They may take jabs at each other but they aren’t afraid to demonstrate how much they love each other and are loyal to a fault. The women are tough but still remain feminine. They are smart and unapologetic. There is something about them that makes you want to root for them and hold your breath when they end up in a life or death situation which happens a lot. I look forward to seeing what happens next. **Received a copy of the book from the publisher and reviewed voluntarily.**

Fantastic addition to the series. Finally Ozzie's book. This adorable character you can't help but love finds it himself. Julie's writing is crisp and clean and full of heart. Suspense abounds and the reader is always given a taste of things to come and intrigued as to which characters should hook up next. Love this series!

'Wild Ride' by Julie Ann Walker is book Nine in the "Black Knights Inc." series. This is the story of Ethan "Ozzie" Sykes and Samantha Tate. I have not yet read the other books in this series so for me this was a standalone book. The Black Knights are a team of people actually working for the Government but only a few Government people know about them. Ozzie is one of the members and he knows that things have to be kept secret. But when Sam starts to looking around for information it ends up putting her in danger and that doesn't leave Ozzie many options. This was an exciting, drama filled romance that was hard to put down!*A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection*

Finally in "Wild Ride" we see Ozzie front and center. I have been a longtime fan of the BKI group and couldn't wait to see Ethan 'Ozzie' Skyes get his story. The geeky, always smiling, always funny, always flirting, sexy Ozzie. I enjoyed the depths we got to see in Ozzie's story and how his life has evolved. He meets his match in Samantha, the woman that works for the newspaper. The action was fast and furious, the intimate moments hot, and the background we see on Ozzie is just not what I expected. It was better. Although many of the BKI group were on a mission, we did get to see a lot of familiar people a part of this one. The women of BKI are just as much a part of it all as the men. Although a standalone, you will want to catch up to any ones you might have missed. I can't wait for the next one. I would like to thank NetGalley and Sourcebooks for gifting me "Wild Ride". My opinion is my own. This is mine 4.75 Stars!

One of my favorite series, genres and authors! Get to reading. You hurt and want for Ozzie and Samantha. Chapters 23 and 25 just did me in! They just couldn't get out of their own way, thank goodness for their circle of friends. Not lol funny, quirky smiles and head nodding I get its. If you don't get 95% of the movie and song references you're just not worthy of their journey. Julie, why?! These are my dudes, Cajun's and Dan's back stories and love stories being my favs but somehow I just knew Ozzie would wedge in there too urrggh. So that's my review....as you wish!

WILD RIDE is the ninth installment in Julie Ann Walker’s contemporary adult BLACK KNIGHTS INC romantic suspense/military, action series focusing on an elite group of ex Navy SEALS, FBI, CIA and military heroes headquartered at a custom motorcycle shop known as Black Knights Inc. The men and women of Black Knights Inc are so far under the radar that they are blacker than Black Ops. This is underground operator /computer hacker Ethan ‘ Ozzie’ Sykes, and journalist Samantha Tate’s story line. WILD RIDE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Ozzie has been present throughout most of the series but falls into trouble during FULL THROTTLE (BKI #7) wherein our story line hero almost lost his life during a rescue mission that went to h*ll. Told from dual third person perspectives (Ozzie and Samantha) WILD RIDE follows journalist Samantha Tate as she endeavors to uncover the truth behind the Black Knights Inc connection to a local MC involved in a series of crimes and unsolved murders including an informant who went missing and was found dead. As Samantha struggles to gather information about the men of BKI, our heroine finds herself targeted by the same MC she has been hoping to expose. Enter Ozzie Sykes, the man who calls to Samantha’s heart, and the man who risks his life for a woman out to destroy his family and friends. What ensues is the building relationship between Ozzie and Samantha, and Samantha’s battle between her heart and her head. Ozzie is a man used to rejection and losing Samantha was something Ozzie never expected the day she walked away without a backwards glance. Struggling with his slow healing injuries, unable to go out into the field as before, Ozzie finds himself at odds about his future and the woman that calls to his heart. Samantha Tate is determined to get her story; to uncover the truth about the secrets hidden behind the walls of BKI but a truth that when revealed is a secret that she must take to the grave. The relationship between Samantha and Ozzie begins six years earlier when our heroine first lands a story about BKI. Fast forward to present day, and Samantha’s fascination with Ozzie is fractured when she believes he may be responsible for the death of her friend. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of sexually graphic language and text. A small number of the previous story line characters play secondary and supporting roles as most of the members of BKI are on assignment over seas. We are reintroduced to Becky, Michelle and Delilah, as well as newcomers former British SAS agent Christian, and one time CIA operative Emily Scott, BKI’s new secretary and the woman who may or may not have more than a passing interest in the former British intelligence agent. There is plenty of sexual tension between Christian and Emily, something not missed by the members of BKI. WILD RIDE is a story of family, friendship, heartbreak and love. The premise is riveting and intense; the characters are charismatic and colorful; the romance is provocative and emotional. WILD RIDE is awash in 80s pop culture from song lyrics to movie line quotes making for a ‘wild ride’ into the past as Ozzie and Samantha banter back and forth making for some humorous moments.

4 Stars I absolutely love the black knights series. I always feel like these books are to short but they manage to pack a hell of a wallop. All of the characters in this story are absolutely amazing in their individual ways. But lets focus on the main characters of Wild Ride. Samantha Tate is a reporter, her very being dictates that she gets to the bottom of what is happening at Black Knights. That is until she became friends with Ozzie. Now she just wants to hang out and get to know them better. Of course her warm and fuzzy feelings change a bit when she finds out that the Black Knights are gun runners. Ethan Sykes, AKA Ozzie, works at Black Knights Inc., he is a fun time guy in order to hide the fact that every rejection hurts like a brand on his soul. But when he almost looses a leg in a mission his whole disposition changes and he is only "himself" when he is with Samantha. To bad he can never actually be with her because if they start hanging out as more than friends she will leave him, just like every other woman in his life has done. And it doesn't help anything that he cant tell her about who he really is. But when they are forced to be with each other more often then ever before, due to a threat on Samantha's life, maybe they will actually have a chance. Or maybe she will break his heart all over again. This was a great suspenseful romance, that manages to close up all of the little loose ends that pop up throughout the story. I found this book absolutely scrumptious, the sexy scenes were amazing, and the characters were amazing. The writing style was flawless and holy crap did this book make me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. The sarcastic and witty characters that are prevalent at Black Knights Inc. are just enhanced with the new banter style that is all Samantha Tate. There is a lot of sex in this book, and not all of it happens in the bedroom so please keep that in mind. ~A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 1/2 OZZIE!!!!!! Need I say more? Oh, I do? So telling you that Ozzie finally gets his story is not enough for you? Telling you that Ozzie is awesome is not enough? Telling you that we learn so much more about Ozzie and his history that is beyond heartbreaking is not enough? Telling you the Samantha Tate is a rock star reporter that will not ever give up? How about Ozzie and Samantha in the kitchen. Sharing a nice meal together? What more do you want from me???? But seriously, I loved Ozzie’s book. I loved that we get to know him so much better than just the sweet, sexy, Star Trek lovin’ and lover of everything 80’s computer nerd. I really enjoyed the talk between Becky and Ozzie. Yes, there might have been a tear or a lot... If you are a BKI fan you will LOVE Ozzie’s book. If you are new to this series you really should read this series in order so that you get a better understand of the world. Plus you get a lot of Ozzie throughout the whole series. And of course we get to see a lot of Christian. Can’t wait for his book. Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Edelweiss & Sourcebooks in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

I feel like I have been waiting forever for Ozzie's book. Ozzie is the hot guy with the panty melting smile. When he was injured in the last book, I was wondering if we would forever find a changed Ozzie. The new Ozzie is definitely a little darker, but still the same loveable guy underneath it all and the person who brings the old Ozzie back is Samantha. The reporter that Ozzie has been friends with for a while. When Samantha finds herself in trouble, Ozzie will stop at nothing to protect her. I loved this book because Ozzie is a guy who we have seen with a smile and a quick joke all of the time. Now we learn why he is that way. The loss that Ozzie has had in his life and what he is truly searching for. I loved seeing all of these layers to Ozzie and knowing that he's still our loveable goofball with a lot of vulnerability and such a good guy. I loved watching Samantha realize her love for Ozzie. She is a kick butt heroine and perfectly suited for Ozzie. Loved these two together. Another great Black Knights book!

Ozzie!!! Former Navy SEAL Ethan "Ozzie" Sykes is smart, gorgeous, flirty, fun and nerdy and my favorite of the BKI guys. Hooked on Star Trek and 80’s hair bands Ozzie hasn’t had any problems getting the ladies till it all goes bad and he is injured leaving the bed of a lover. Ozzie is healing slowly and knows he will never regain his former strength. Still he is alive and that has to count for something. In Wild Ride the BKI guys except for Ozzie and Christian are away on assignment. It is Ozzies job to distract nosy investigative reporter Samantha Tate. The more he gets to know her the more he likes her. Why has fate determined that the one woman he falls for is the one he can’t have? I loved this book! Watching Ozzie find himself again and actually have to fight to get the girl was a hoot. Watching Samantha fight to protect her heart was sweet. Best of all was watching the BKI gals circle around Ozzie and reassure him that he is worth loving even broken. Fast paced, laugh out loud action and adventure at its finest. Another great book in a great series! I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and chose to review it
