A collection like this would require a lot of work to assemble--something the editor clearly did, and to the reader's benefit. Virtually anything worth reading that was written about Yosemite in the 1800s is represented here, and in a way that makes the material fresh and valuable. A trip to the park is surely enriched by the fascinating and engaging essays in this book, thoughtfully arranged and intelligently annotated. Was this review helpful?
