I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. McDonough's collection. All three stories were well written and had characters that were fun and easy to cheer for. From the artistic Adam and hatpin-wielding Mariah, to rancher's daughter, Anna, and the handsome marshall who mistakes her for an outlaw, to the stoic, hard-working Quinn and the desperate woman he marries to save from a lynch mob- all three of these McFarland tales were a joy to read. Having the setting in the Badlands of North Dakota was unique and rugged enough to impose its own hardships. I would highly recommend this book.
