Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 2Stunning, crystal clear, full-color photographs and a simple text introduce children to 13 different animals from around the world. Each double-page spread shows a picture of a solitary animal, then a pair, then a group: "One sheep alone, two sheep togethera flock of sheep grazing in the snow." An appendix includes the scientific name for each creature pictured, its habitat, and a few interesting facts. A good read aloud to interest youngsters in the animal world.Elizabeth Trotter, Scott County Public Library, Georgetown, KY
Kirkus Reviews
A book of collective nouns paired with full-color photographs from Oxford Scientific Films and brief lines of text for 13 animals. Familiar animals dominate the collection, among them, dolphins, kangaroos, lions, walruses, camels. Each appears on a spread of one large and two smaller photographs (clear enough for group viewing), and a sentence describing the animal and its group: "One fox sniffing, two foxes digging—a skulk of foxes hunting in the night." The brief sentences are filled with lively action words; these creatures glide, hop, kiss, yawn, box, sunbathe, somersault, swarm, float, and fly. From a troop of kangaroos to a pod of walruses, the book provides useful information in a compelling presentation. Back matter includes scientific names and a paragraph of interesting facts about each animal.
