ORGAN WORKS Of Wilhelm Friedemann Bach Fugues, Chorale Preludes Dr. Julia Brown presents a definitive performance of the surviving organ works of Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, the oldest son of Johann Sebastian Bach. The order of presentation, Fugues alternating with chorale preludes, provides an attractive study for the audience. Dr. Brown has chosen excellent, traditional registrations which provide not only comfort and enjoyment in the casual environment, but a standard for students to absorb and emulate. Her presentation is clear and accurate. The Fuchs organ Opus 18 built by Paul Fritts is nothing short of spectacular. The velvety flutes, vigorous principals, and crisp reeds become an excellent vehicle for the recording of this set of organ works. The Fritts organ in this recording reflects company goals of "quality and integrity" in a classic, superlative instrument. The elegance of sound optimizes the compositions of W.F. Bach, a fine composer of music not heard frequently enough. This recording piques the curiosity to learn more about Dr. Brown and her international and AGO background, and especially the Fritts instrument. The listener is urged to explore websites and further contact with this artist and the exceptional organs built by Fritts.
