Will You Still be My Daughter?: A Fable for Our Times

Overview

"This is good," said the Daughter. "I can listen to your song and you can listen to mine. Together our melodies make a symphony. And, yes, Mother, even though I sing a different song than you do, I will still be your Daughter."

There was a beautiful strong oak three who spent her days enjoying the sunrise and the breeze and the birds, and especially the clouds that formed patterns in the sky.

One morning an acorn fell from one of her branches, and she watched in great satisfaction.

"Ah," she said. "A Daughter! That's what I have always wanted, a Daughter." She looked down at the acorn and smiled. "Hello, Daughter!"

"Hello, Mother," said the Daughter.

"This is good," said the Mother. "You will be here close to me, and I will watch over you. You will grow to be just like me and will be my Daughter forever."

From Daughter to Mother to Grandmother

This is a wonderful book that brought tears to my eyes! It was a gift from my daughter, with whom I often don't see eye to eye, and I presented a copy to my mother. She also found it brought tears to her eyes.

    Great for any mother...or daughter

This book is a fantastic book. My daughter is 11 and just starting to spread her wings. It puts into perspective the views of both a mother (as the daughter is becoming an individual of her own) and the daughter(as the mother is letting go... and allowing her to experience her own choices). I too could not read it without a tear coming to my eyes.

Speaks right from a mom's heart

Bought this book to send to my daughter on her first Mother's Day away from me (she is serving in the Air Force.) I picked it up in a bookstore and as I finished reading it, embarrassed myself by crying right there in the aisle! It is perfect for any mother who's daughter is 'leaving the nest'!

Wonderful Book for mothers and daughters

I read this book after a friend at work recommended it. I couldnt read it for crying. It is an amazing book that I am buying for my daughters as a keepsake. I am also buying a copy for my sister n law who lost her mom a few years back.
