Chapter One

Willameana Whitney White was very different and impolite. She rolled her eyes and liked to fight, and everything needed to be in white. Everything she wore was white: her dress, her shoes (they fit just right). "I think colors are too bright; that's why my things are all in white."

Willameana Whitney White would only bite foods that were white; her favorite treat was marshmallow delight.

Every part of her room was white—her carpet, the furniture—what a sight! She asked her mom to buy her a toy; a white butterfly would bring her joy. She also wanted a brand-new kite, and yes, her toys were all in white.

She put them on her shelf one night and fell asleep till morning light. But when she woke, she was surprised; her butterfly had purple eyes! "What is this? I just despise the purple in those beady eyes. Something happened in the night; I'll stay up late with all my might."

Willameana Whitney White stayed up late that following night, and suddenly by the stroke of midnight her butterfly took off in flight. "Take me with you on your flight! How dare you leave me, not tonight!" She grabbed its wings and off they went, flying without her mom's consent.
