School Library JournalGr 9 Up-This slim volume is a powerful approach to the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet. Bloom's introduction highlights Williams's uniqueness as compared to earlier and contemporary poets. A brief biography covers personal and literary events. Some of Williams's better-known poems, "Spring and All," "The Yachts," "The Wanderer," "Burning the Christmas Greens," "January Morning," and "These," are discussed. The complete texts are not reprinted. However, each selection is subjected to a critical analysis in terms of themes and patterns. A complete list of Williams's novels, essays, short stories, and plays, as well as poetry; an impressive bibliography of articles and books about the writer; and an index of themes and ideas are appended. This is a sophisticated work, appropriate for mature, scholarly YAs and adults.-Libby K. White, Jewish Vocational Services, Baltimore, MD Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
