Gr 6-8-This update of Kent's 1993 biography offers new information about the president's turbulent first year in office. The first five chapters, which relate his childhood, education, and career in Arkansas politics, remain unchanged. The last three chapters have been rewritten, and the lengthy description of the 1992 campaign has been condensed. The author discusses some of Clinton's victories, and mentions some of the controversies that have plagued him. There is no mention of the Whitewater scandal, and Kent is very admiring of both of the Clintons. Some new black-and-white photographs have been added and the old cover portrait has been replaced with a more attractive full-color photo. Although Kent does a fair job, this book is already dated. Libraries that own the earlier edition, Michael Cole's Bill Clinton (Enslow, 1994), or Victoria Sherrow's Bill Clinton (Dillon, 1993) should consider this replacement only if there is a very strong demand for books about the president and the early part of his administration.-Mary Mueller, Rolla Junior High School, MO
