School Library Journal - School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 2 Like Gerstein's Roll Over! (Crown, 1984), this is a small book which tells its story partly by using movable endflaps on the right-hand side of each double page. This time the original but familiar story concerns parents searching everywhere in the house for their child, reluctant to go to bed. Every two-page spread shows William's parents searching another spot in the house for their wayward boy, with the movable flaps revealing variations on the punchline of ``He's not in here'' delivered by assorted household animals and William's sister. They find William, naturally, in the last place they thought to lookhis bed. The humorous illustrations are in neon-bright watercolors. The story does seem to go on a bit too long, but older preschoolers and primary-age children who enjoyed Roll Over! will like this new offering.Kay McPherson, Central Atlanta-Fulton Public Library, Ga.
