Editorial Reviews

From The Critics
Reviewer: Anthony Shanks, MD(Washington University School of Medicine)
Description: As the title indicates, this is a companion study guide for Williams Obstetrics, 23rd edition, Cunningham et al. (McGraw-Hill, 2010).
Purpose: It is intended to assess readers' comprehension of the material presented in the main textbook. Questions have a strong clinical focus and are clear and concise, and the multiple choice format is very familiar to readers.
Audience: The study guide is intended for residents, practicing physicians, and the most eager of medical students.
Features: The sections are arranged to the corresponding textbook chapters. The clear and concise images are used appropriately. The questions themselves highlight the important aspect of each chapter and are written very fairly. Answers are not elaborated upon in the guide, but they include a page number in the textbook for learners to read more in depth. The objectives of the book are pretty straightforward and the authors do a good job of achieving them.
Assessment: This is a very nice accompaniment to the textbook. The multiple choice format is easy to use and the answers are concisely written. All readers, particularly medical students and residents, will appreciate this.
