When I was in Venezuela at 16 for a summer I had amazing food. Simple and the taste was out of this world. Things tasted so much better there. Then I got home and ate food that was dull. I tried to make different foods and tried different recipes that were similar but nothing brought me back to the time I got to spend in South America. Then I got this book at the library and fell in love so I had to order it. Now as I make foods and share them with friends and family I am brought back to the experiences I had. I tell the stories and the things I learned while there. I can almost taste and smell the fresh guavas and mangos right off the trees. To hear the beautiful languages in the market place. To feel the potholes and ruts in the town we lives in. I miss it so much and this cookbook fills the bill for what I was missing.

This is a great book to add to any kitchen collection. I cook out of it all the time. The guacamole recipe is out of this world -- follow the recipe, and you'll have better guacamole than you can find anywhere else! Also, you can easily substitute the pomegranate for another fruit, like strawberries.
The pictures in the book are really beautiful, and they always put me in the mood to cook.
Another great thing about this book is that it is includes recipes from all over Latin America -- not just Mexico. Mexican food is very popular here in the U.S., but all the regions of Latin America offer delicious dishes that are not quite as well known here in the U.S. This book offers some great meat recipes from Argentina and Chile.
This is a definitely buy, and would make a great Christmas present for an aspiring chef!
