Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
The sweet fifth installment of Blake’s (Holly Lane) Destiny contemporary series offers the captivating story of bookstore owner Amy Bright. The matchmaker of tiny Destiny, Ohio, Amy has come up empty in her own search for love. She believes her friends’ happy endings will never happen for her—until a longtime friend, firefighter Logan Whitaker, kisses her in a drunken moment. As Amy realizes she is in love with her best friend, a complication arrives: Anna Romo, who disappeared from town at age five. Logan asks Amy to set him up with the “arrestingly beautiful” Anna, and Amy feels certain she can’t compete. Her friends provide a makeover and help devise secret notes to Logan, changing things dramatically. Suggestive love scenes befit the Austen theme and, though this is no easy road to happily-ever-after, it’s impossible not to empathize with and cheer for Amy in this charming tale. Agent: Meg Ruley & Christina Hogrebe, Jane Rotrosen Agency. (July)

Not one of the better ones

I love this series. This one was aweful. Unrealistic actually. The crazy 34 yr old virgin cat lady wins the sexy firemen over the younger sexy aggressive new girl. Not in real life, I had a hard time finishing this one.
I have loved Toni Blakes other books, but didn't find this one as passionate as the previous books. Sorry

    Nice continuation of series

I love it when an author keeps going in a series and previous characters are woven into the new book. However, I found Amy to be over the top annoying about Logan and his career choices. She was like a dog with a bone and would not step back. He was amazing to put up with it.

    Disappointing

I was looking forward to amys story since i started the series, and found Amys character ( who is usually fun an interesting) to be extremly annoying and pathetic. Very disappointing!

    Not worth it

Of all the Destiny books this was a true let down. It was boring and I could have cared less about the characters. I found Destiny to be very boring and "Amy" to be less than boring ...almost pathetic and I don't think that was the intent. I just wanted her to crawl back to the book store and live with her cats FOREVER.

Amy Bright is the best match-maker in Destiny, Ohio, but has no love life of her own. Until one night she's kissed, and she falls head over heels in love with her best friend, Logan Whitaker. But Logan has his own demons he's trying to work out, and are these two ready to take that leap from friends to... more?

The first half of this book was hauntingly sweet and addicting. The second half just seemed to be filled with miscommunication and weak conflict. Very strange dialog too. In saying that, friends to lovers plots are hard to pull off, and this felt realistically done. This is my first book by Blake, and I probably won't hesitate to buy more. She has a real knack for underlying emotions and setting her scene. The secondary characters pulled this through.

    Touching!

It's about time Amy got her story. Alwaysvthe bridesmaid is so true for this character. I'm glad she grew in this story. She found her confidence and self worth. Logan may have list his way but he figured it out. I love returning to Destiny. Ms Blake tells such wonderful stories.

Am I prepared to make a life altering decision today?

When you spend your entire life searching for the answer to make the piece of your life fit, it is hard fate seems to be working against you. Amy has loved Logan her entire life, but he sees them as just friends. Amy has tried expressing that love but such a huge step has not come easily to her. With her friends support maybe this time she can show Logan how much more than friends she wants to be.

Trouble with her plan begins when someone long thought gone from town shows up ready to take away Logan’s affection from Amy. Well the game is one and regardless of what obstacles are in the way it is now or never. Amy is going to figure out a way to go from unnoticeable to enticing and then throw caution to the wind.

Logan has to wrestle his demons especially when one shows up knocking at the door, but he figures things are going the way they should. He was pursing one life and now does not know which career makes sense so how is he going to pick which woman he wants. Having too many choices is a bad thing for this guy and the women are deciding the rules of the game whether he likes it or not.

Toni Blake writes love from her heart and shows with the written word how wonderful love truly is with the right match.

    My Least Favorite

This was my least favorite of the series. Logan and Amy just lacked chemistry. Logan never really never seemed attracted to Amy beyond a friend (except the last 5 pages). This book had potential but it really never took off. I loved the other books so this was disappointing.

    RULES

    Camp is in third result.

    WARRIOR CODE:

    1. Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your own Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.

    2. Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory.

    3. Elders, queens, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders. If any warrior or apprentice is sick or injured, then they may eat with the queens, elders, and kits.

    4. Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.

    5. A kit must be six moons old to become an apprentice.

    6. Newly appointed warriors must keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.

    7. A cat cannot be made a deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.

    8. The deputy will become Clan leader when the current leader dies, retires, or is exiled.

    9. After the death or retirement of the current deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.

    10. A Gathering of all Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among the Clans at this time.

    11. Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespadsing cats.

    12. No warrior may neglect or ignore a kit in pain or danger, even if that kit is from another Clan.

    13. The word from the Clan leader is the warrior code.

    14. An honorable warrioe does not need to kill other cats to win a battle, unless they are out of the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense.

    15. A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.

    ADDITIONAL RULES

    • Medicine cats may not have a mate or kits.

•Kits must stay in camp until they are apprenticed, and are not allowed to hunt.

    • The safety of the Clan is more important than the safety of one cat.

    • Cats must not unite together to drive out another Clan, unless it is vital for the forest's survival.

    WILLOWCLAN RULES

    1. No swearing, cursing, or profanity of any kind is allowed. Of course, phrases such as "foxheart" and "fishbrain" are accepted.

    2. This is a realistic Clan, please play accoring to the book AND to the Clan's territory. This is a water-based Clan, so you shouldn't bring back mice and birds all the time.

    3. Please try to refrain from kit-posts such as "A kit stumbled in, covered in dirt. Her back leg was twisted backwards, both ears were knicked, and a large slash was across her nose. Coated in blood, she collasped." Posts like this will most likely be ignored.

    4. Absolutely no powers or godmodding. All godmodding enemies will be ignored, or asked to use just claws and teeth for a fair battle.

    5. Try to keep on the subject of roleplaying, no off-topic posts. If it is necessary put your off-topic note in parenthesis () so people know it is not roleplay.

    6. Be sure of your loyalty to the Clan. Cats leaving will be heavily frowned upon and will not be accepted back into the Clan if they change their mind.

    7. Cats asking to be deputy or leader without any proof that they will be a good example have a very good chance of not getting the rank.

    8. Try your best to use proper grammar and spelling.

    9. We will play accoring to the majority of the Clan's weather, so don't expect sunny weather in the roleplay when it is raining heavily or snowing in most of our places.

    10. Have fun! :)

    Highly recommend reading this story

I have read all the Destiny, Ohio Series Books. And this book was one of my favorites, all though I loved them all. The character, Amy Bright, was so lovable and sweet. I wish more people could be as open to possibilities as the people in this series of romantic relationships.

    Loved It!!!

This was a pretty deep book about love, loss, friendship, loyalty and so much emotion at every level... This has been a wonderful series that has kept me up late at night for a week as I have been unable to put down any of the five I have read... Logan and Amy were made for each other, grew up next door to each other and had been best friends forever... But could they make the leap to forever with so many things seemingly keeping them apart... In this story your heart will break and then it will soar... Beautiful story, wonderful characters and very excellent writing... Definitely 5 Stars!
