Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Denise Daley
We can feel wind and sometimes we hear it as it blows around us, but we cannot see wind because it is air that is moving. Thus begins this books that describes wind in the simplest of terms so that young children can read and understand this introductory book. Different types of wind, from a gentle breeze to strong gales are described, as is the uses of wind such as for moving a sailboat or making power for homes. Wind also helps some types of birds to sail through the air and it helps plants scatter their seeds. Wind can be fun for flying kites and when it is very windy, the reader is advised to wear a jacket. The bright and colorful illustrations will appeal to young readers as will the large font and bold lettered chapter titles. Throughout the book there are photographs of smiling children playing in the wind and this makes the book even more attractive to young readers. It is part of the "Whatever the Weather" series.
