Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
For teachers and others who may be looking for plays that fit a multicultural program, this collection should fit the bill. The author has provided background information, suggestions for performance, reproducibles to help with masks and costumes, and the play script. Sikundar extend the experience with other related activities. The tales include one about a seal that comes from Scotland, a familiar Hindu story about the monkey and the crocodile, an Indonesian story about a big strong tiger tricked by a mouse deer, an Aboriginal tale about the frog who swallows all of the water in Australia, and a Korean folktale about an underwater dragon who needs a rabbit's liver to cure his illness. Many of these tales exist in picture book form, which would add yet another component to the dramatic activity. A useful resource.
