Overview

"Winds of Change" is a historical fantasy SHORT STORY which features Martha Jane, a teenage girl of the early 1900s who was taught by her mother to call the wind. Encumbered by a physical challenge, she's afraid she might not be strong enough to save her town from flooding after her brother botches a rainmaking job. Will her magic be enough to convince the townspeople that she deserves their respect? Martha Jane must push her abilities to their limit to move forward despite personal loss and insecurity.

This short story originally appeared in the DAW Books fantasy anthology Something Magic This Way Comes as edited by Martin H. Greenberg and Sarah Hoyt. The anthology is still available in whole through Barnes & Noble.
