This short story originally appeared in the DAW Books fantasy anthology Something Magic This Way Comes as edited by Martin H. Greenberg and Sarah Hoyt. The anthology is still available in whole through Barnes & Noble.

Meet the Author

Linda A. B. Davis lives in the panhandle of Florida dodging hurricanes and swatting mosquitos with her husband and daughter. They are all graciously tolerated by three dogs and three cats, the power of three doing its best to even things out.

Linda's speculative fiction can be found in two DAW Books anthologies and other various print and electronic science fiction and fantasy venues. She holds a Master's degree in print journalism but switched over to writing fiction as it her love. She also volunteers as Managing Editor for AnthologyBuilder.

    COLORS: black tail tip and ears. White paws and the rest is brown.

    EYES: lime green

    FUR LENGTH: fluffy, soft.

    MATE: Quailheart

    KITS: not yet... :P

    APPRENTICE: not yet. :(

    MOTHER: Snowfall

    FATHER: Mudwhisker

    SIBLINGS: Blossomtail ( sister )

    PERSONALITY: Sweet, kind, active, strong when it comes to hunting.

    UNIQUE TRAITS: one of the bedt hunters, and has an eyesight as sharp as a hawk.

    Eye color: emerald green
    Kin: none
    Mate: none (but would consider having one!)
    Pelt color: orange with pure black stripes like a tiger and pure black patches on her ears and pure black paws.
    Personality: brave, hates being center of attention, and nice.
    History: she ws abadoned as a kit and learned to fend for herself and hunt, she joined echoclan but they aren't active any longer so she left and taught herself warrior moves that she saw another clan practice as well as developeher own moves.
    Rank: warrior
    Desire: maybe a caring and active mate, to train apprentices, and live in a clan.

    Closedsoul

    Brown tom. Muscular body. Not afraid to jump into action. No noticable scar on him. His name... well only history can tell why he is named closedsoul. Brown eyes... his parents well nobody ever cared for him... except for mother... mayflower... when he was younger his fur was white... now it is a light brown... who knows his history? Right blacksoul.... the one with the lost soul...
