    Great information

Book provides good information that is organized well. There are also in-depth explanations that are clearly labeled so that you don't have to get into it if you don't desire to to so. Overall, this is a great book for people who would like to learn about the world of wine.

    Magnifico!

This is quite a magnificent book. I was completely ignorant on the subject of wine before reading it, but I had the ambition to learn all I could. Now my friends come to me for wine advice. I am consistantly referencing this wonderful book. Every time I read it, I learn something new. It is amazing that such experts can write in such a comprehensible manner, but they do. They make a wonderful team. I condsider this book the authority on all subjects related to wine, bar none.

    Adequate but demeaning!

This book does a good job introducing the basics of wine to the uninitiated. Despite this, I prefer Oz Clarke's "Introducing Wine", which covers the same ground in a more attractive format. It's also an easier title to give as a gift!

    A Guide for the Hopeless

If you want to learn about wine and don't know where to start - buy this book. After several days of reading I decided to venture into a wine store. I felt like someone had pinned a universal translator to my lapel. I had a clue! This book is terrific, it paid for itself in one week.
