Meet the Author

Alexis Herschkowitsch is the coauthor of five Fearless Critic restaurant guides and a contributor to Fodor’s travel guides. She is a graduate of the University of Texas and has a WSET advanced wine and spirits certificate.

Robin Goldstein is author of The Wine Trials and co-author of The Wine Trials 2010 and The Beer Trials. He is a contributor to the New York Times' Freakonomics blog, and has written for more than 30 Fodor's travel guides, from Italy to Argentina to Hong Kong. He has an A.B. in neuroscience and philosophy from Harvard University, a J.D. from the Yale Law School, a certificate in cooking from the French Culinary Institute in New York City, and a WSET advanced wine and spirits certificate.

    The Wine Trials 2010 is an excellent guide to everyday inexpensive wines. It gives you the names of the big bargain wines, what the critics say and the reviews written about each individual wine as well as the cost.

    My daughter who is only 21 bought me this book for a Christmas gift.
    Her friends already had the book. It is easy to use and gives you the break down by cost, region, red and white and a history of each. I am enjoying the book and would highly recommend it.

    Fun and helpful book

    Fun book, not extremely detailed, so a true"wine snob" may not find it useful. I have an intermediate level of wine knowledge and found it very useful. With the current economy, its very helpful to find cheaper wines, but you may have to buy a new version every year or so with the new vintages. One funny thing is, they comment on their opinion of each wine's label, and I don't know how this would really matter to anyone. I paired this book with a bottle of cheap wine as a fun gift.
