Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

This hardcover by Wine Enthusiast columnists Mike Desimone and Jeff Jenssen is the first book focused exclusively on the world's most up-and-coming wine region: the Southern Hemisphere. This widespread area covers several distinct national wine cultures, notably those of Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. In addition to spotlighting current information on the leading wineries in each country, this budget-priced, Sterling-published resource features interviews with premiere winemakers and choice recipes to pair with their wines.

From the Publisher
"DeSimone and Jenssen, Wine Enthusiast's lifestyle and entertaining editors, have produced the first book devoted solely to the wines of the globe's Southern half. Within the last 25 years, wines from South America, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia have exploded in global popularity, and DeSimone and Jenssen give these exceptional winemaking regions the spotlight they've long deserved." —Wine Enthusiast

“The World Wine Guys, Mike DeSimone and Jeff Jenssen, have done something nobody has ever done before: They've written a book dedicated 100 percent to 'Wines of the Southern Hemisphere' . . . an homage to the plethora of fine wines from below the equator, and an encyclopedic source of information on the wine-producing countries and regions of the Southern Hemisphere, the wines themselves, and the people who make them. —Huffington Post

“On a more serious note—the massive 'Wines of the Southern Hemisphere' by Mike DeSimone & Jeff Jenssen, the World Wine Guys, has everything you want and need to know about wines from Brazil, Chile, South Africa and more. More than just a simple listing of key countries, regions, and producers, this tome delves into the entire winemaking industry of the Southern Hemisphere, giving readers a historical, geographical, and enological overview.” —Publishers Weekly

“No one has attempted to thoroughly zero in on these important wine-making spots of the southern hemisphere before this great, comprehensive tome by DeSimone and Jenssen.  A must-have for any good wine geek's library.” —foxnews.com

“When you consider the amount of accurate and unsnobby information in this book, not to mention its hefty size and intelligent design, Wines of the Southern Hemisphere is an incredible bargain.” —Austin Chronicle

“[A] terrific guide for those who wish to learn more about the wines that now make up nearly 30 percent of the world's total wine consumption . . . The authors' considerable expertise is evident on each page without becoming pedantic, making it a very fun read that is more like a conversation than a handbook.” —gazette.net
