I bought this book, as well as volume 2, when I only had about a year of wing chun training under my belt. I didn't realize how lousy the information was, until I looked back at it about 5 years later. To anyone who wants to learn the wing chun forms from a book...the forms teach position, mechanics, and core principals. I've yet to find a wing chun book that dives into these deeper elements. All you'll get from a book is the choreography of the forms, and the choreography of the forms is like the cover of a book...the secrets are inside the book...not to be found on the cover. If you're inclined to waste your money, send it to me, rather than buy this book.

This first book in the 3 volume series was excellent. Dr. Smith has done an excellent job of bring the eastern art to the western student in a way that is consise and effective. I have purchased the other 2 books expecting the same preview of information as I've received in this one.
