Wingless Flight is the story of how a small volunteer group of technicians came together to create a wingless airplane and to prove that it could be a practical flying machine. Beginning in 1963, Dale Reed and his team of engineers demonstrated the potential of the lifting body design that eventually led to the Space Shuttle and is now in use with the X-38 escape craft to be used on the International Space Station.
